We arrived at the hotel at 6.30pm on a Friday, hoping for a twin room for the night. Luckily they were able to accommodate us for B&B and they also gave us a late-booking discount which was very welcome as it ended up paying for our evening meal. The room was clean and comfortable with terrific views across the loch.

We had had a long trip up to Scotland and wanted to eat early and then rest. Although the dining room was fully booked until 8.30pm, Iain was really helpful and gave us a table at 7pm. The food was not spectacular but it was certainly adequate and not too highly priced. There was a good variety of food for breakfast, which is buffet style.

We would certainly go there again!

I have spent the last two years setting up a vintage car rally based here for three nights, and it has been well worth the effort. In spite of a recent change in ownership, all the arrangements went like clockwork, and the staff could not have been more helpful. Kayleigh and Susan on reception went out of their way to keep things running smoothly, and Angela in the dining room, with help from Ricardo and Jim(?), was extremely helpful, making sure that the table arrangements were suitable, and ensuring that a good selection of wine was available for our group. She regularly checked with me to ensure everything was satisfactory. In spite of our group of over 60 people all requiring dinner at once, the service was first class. Philip(?) made sure our cars had a private car parking area, with help from Jim, and all our trailers were safely accommodated.

The bar staff were clearly not used to so many drinkers arriving at once, but did their best to cope. I guess that the mainstay coach tour residents don't drink as much as vintage MG drivers! The meal selections each night were interesting, good value and tasty, but don't expect gourmet dining at these prices. The furniture in the main public areas is clearly tired and ready for replacement, but no doubt the new owners will be attending to this soon. The bedroom I had was well furnished without being luxurious, but again good value, and the room and bathroom were very clean. Although I was on my own, I was in a family room which is cleverly designed to give a degree of privacy between the children's bunk beds and the king size double. I gather from our members that all the rooms we had were of similar quality.

The location is unmatched, with amazing loch and mountain views from every part of the hotel. Although not far from the main road, I was unaware of any road noise disturbance, other than the sound of 35 pre-war MGs being fired up simultaneously in the morning!

All in all, a much better experience than might be expected from a hotel catering mainly for the coach trade. I am happy to recommend it for individuals, but particularly for groups like ours, looking for a good West Highland touring base.

Room Tip: As far as I can tell, all rooms benefit from an excellent sea view, due to the thoughtful design, an...

I was here with a group of 3 motorbikers for 1 night during a 7-days motorhike through Schotland. Good value for money. Friendly staff. Food average. Swimming pool and sauna were OK, and welcome after a day of 400km of roads.

Many thanks for your review Francis D. Very pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. It sounds like the swimming pool and bio sauna were just what you required after a day on your motorcycle around our Highland roads.

We dined at this hotel's restaurant during a visit in May 2014. The man who greeted us started out by asking if we were staying at the hotel (we were not), and then made a big deal about not having a reservation, although it was relatively early (5:30 to 6:00 pm) and most tables were empty. He begrudgingly seated us, but the waitress was friendly and courteous. The food was average. We enjoyed that the restaurant overlooked a body of water, but wondered why we were seated against the wall and not at a window table after 1.5 hours when just about every window table remained empty. If you just want to have some drinks and an average dinner with a lovely view, this is a decent alternative. But be prepared for the cold shoulder if you are neither a resident of the hotel nor have a reservation.

Dear Sonar11

Thank you for taking the time to review your dining experience at the Isles. I'm pleased that you enjoyed our views as much as we do and that you found your waitress to be friendly and courteous.

It was a big disappointment to read that you found your welcome from our host to be cold, and that the food was only average. We have been getting excellent feedback about our food recently and our staff are normally first to be acknowledged as being very friendly. I'm really sorry this didn't seem to be the case for you. Please be assured that all our guests are equally as important and that your comments are invaluable to us as they will help ensure the team provide all our guests with the same service and experience.

I hope you may see yourself to giving us another try sometime in the future.

This must be one of the best situated hotels anywhere, with superb views over Loch Leven and the mountains of Glencoe. Excellent centre for exploring the area.
The staff are amazingly helpful and friendly and this was a major plus for us. We stayed with a group of 35 vintage cars, some of which needed things like battery charging, trailer parking, water for radiators etc and every problem was sorted quickly with a helpful attitude. Some of the decor is a bit tired, but this is really a minor point.
Food is excellent (highly recommend the Haggis starter, and the Venison) well presented, varied and prompt. If it wasn't so far from home in Cornwall, we'd be back next month!

Many thanks for your fabulous review Brian G. It was a great sight viewing all the vintage cars in our car park last week. What a great boost for the team too, reading your kind comments about their work ethic, it really is appreciated. We are hoping to start making some changes to our furnishings and decor over the next year so hopefully the next time you take a trip up from Cornwall you will see a positive change.

We stayed here with a tour group for one night. Everything needs refurbishing. Furniture in common areas is worn and soiled. Rooms need updating. Hotel has a modern look that was popular 40 years ago. The only statement from other reviews that I find credible is that the hotel is in a pretty spot on the lake. I'm sure the staff tries hard and I have no comments plus or minus.

Room Tip: Room 110 had a nice view.

Oh dear bobinlakeway, we are just as disappointed in your review as you seem to have been with your stay. Sorry. It’s good to know however, that you appreciated the view from your room and that you feel our team do try hard.

We have recently become part of a new family of hotels and over the next year we will be looking to refresh many of the areas that seemed to disappoint during your stay. I hope that you can find yourself giving us another chance in the future so that we can show you how the hotel has improved.

We stayed here for a day and would have stayed longer if time permitted. The location is a nature wonder surrounded by mountains, plains and a mirrored lake. Here is were you can fill your lungs with pure air while hiking the surroundings.
The service was impeccable as it was the dinner and breakfast. It was the only place I found in Scotland that a pint of Scottish beer was less than 4 pounds.
As an improvement I would recommend replacing the mattress in our room as it was well worn out. WIFI worked well in the room. We did use the pool and sauna facilities and had a great time.

Thank you very much Walker14 for your great review, it sounds like you thoroughly enjoyed your time with us. We really are very lucky to be able to work in such a fantastic location with views that are difficult to beat. The most pleasing part is being able to share it with our guests. Thanks for letting us know about the mattress, we will look into that immediately.
