Our daughter, and our now son-in-law, held their wedding here, and my wife and myself enjoyed three nights accommodation.
Although, in places, refurbishment is required, this did not detract from the excellent service we received throughout the weekend. All staff were efficient, courteous and friendly. The quality of the meals we enjoyed was excellent. The managements co-operation in helping plan the wedding was second to none.
Our room was spacious and had a lovely view over the town square.

We stayed here for a Wedding in April and would give the overall experience an Average rating!

Positives: Excellent Food at the Wedding and in the Hotel Restaurant, with a good two/three course meal deals, Good Choice at Breakfast, Prompt Service, Great Location in the Centre of Kelso.

Negatives: Overpriced Wine List, Very dated bedrooms, in need of a full refurbishment, old beds/mattresses, no duvets just blankets, threadbare bedspreads, bathroom had a shower only which would have been acceptable if it wasn't tiny and had the worst shower I have ever seen, no power to the water, very little water coming out and the shower head and tiles were mouldy! Very noisy rooms at the front of the hotel due to traffic, nightlife in Kelso but we couldn't shut the window as the room was so hot! No outdoor area to sit and enjoy the sun! The Wedding Venue had no windows to let natural light in, there were 4 ladies toilets, 1 was out of order and 2 had broken flush handles and were dangerously sharp and difficult to flush! Finally given all this £80 a night was way overpriced for the room we had, it's not worth much more than £40 a night at a push, considering what you can get elsewhere these days for a lot less!

My partner and I have stayed several times a year at this lovely hotel, for about 12 years now. Says it all! The staff are all lovely, the food excellent, service is second to none, everything is very comfortable and clean, and all in a lovely part of the world. Our last trip there was last week, and we intend returning yet again at the first opportunity!

Room Tip: Rooms 101 and 102 are our favourites, but cost a little extra. Rooms on the front of the hotel give a great view of the unusual cobbled Kelso square

Whilst the Cross keys is certainly in a prime spot in the square in Kelso, the bathroom in our double plus room was sadly in need of refurbishment. The restaurant was clean with friendly staff. Portions were good size, even though I was served the wrong starter, the food was good.
The bedrooms need decorating and new mattresses for the beds. I could hardly use the shower as mould on the tiles left me feeling nauseous. We paid for dinner, bed and breakfast on an April deal as we were visiting the racecourse but next time we will try somewhere else.
