“A very good hotel in a fine setting on a beautiful Georgian market square”

Stayed three nights. Clean quiet room and a good nights sleep. Friendly and helpful staff. Food good, though for evening meals the hotel needs to remember that Kelso's independent restaurants set a tough standard to match.

I and 19 other golfers stayed at this hotel recently and were pleasantly surprised with the quality and variety of the food at breakfats and dinner. Al the staff from the receptionists to the waitresses and bar staff were all extremely friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean and well sized. We are certainly considering returning next year.

My husband and I have had two weddings in this hotel and cannot praise the entire staff enough. The pre wedding meetings were made so simple as given sample meals etc and advised what would be good for vegetarians etc , we were offered rooms to be provisionally booked in our name to avoid family and friends having to look elsewhere, and every tiny detail was discussed and arranged in no time, stress free. On the day of the wedding every single little tiny detail was taken care of. The food was lovely, the wine excellent and evening buffet was enjoyed by 200 guests. They even laid big tables for breakfast so wedding party and family and friends could all sit together for breakfast to discuss the day before. Cannot recommend Luca and his team enough.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel will be quieter.

Walked in off the street to a cheerful and helpful receptionist who gave me an excellent rate for dinner , bed and breakfast. The bedroom was a " standard plus" which meant it was bigger than the normal Twin room. It was a good size with large bathroom and plenty of hot water to bathe and relax in the large bath. The room was clean and beds comfy and warm though the furnishings and decor a little dated. There was a good atmosphere in this busy hotel bar and restaurant and the staff were all so extremely helpful and gave excellent service. The food was very good, locally sourced produce and served quickly. Next morning I was a little late for breakfast but the chef kindly made me two poached eggs which were perfect and served with a smile by the waitress. The slight down side to this was that the toast could have been made with better quality bread. However that's only a little gripe! I'd definitly stay again or eat in their restaurant when in the area! Thanks Cross keys!

Stopped here as a family as it was a perfect location to attend the Kelso races. The room was huge, clean and had everything you needed - bottles of water were a lovely touch. The food was amazing and not overpriced, fantastic breakfast choice also. The staff were friendly, approachable and professional. The children were made to feel welcome and made a fuss of. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Room Tip: Any combination catered for, just let them know your requirements.

We ( 12 golfers ) have just arrived back from this hotel having spent 3 nights there and could not fault it. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was first class with plenty generous portions to choose from !!

Tea coffee and bottled water in all rooms also.

It is an ideal spot for touring the borders with plenty golf and fishing on the doorstep !

Cannot speak highly enough of this hotel.

Room Tip: I stayed in room 103 which has 3 single beds, it was large with a bathroom to match.
