Well appointed rooms. Plentiful hot breakfast. Single rooms can be a little smaller than usual, but well decorated and immaculately clean. Good water pressure with plentiful hot water. Lovely base for sight seeing. All the staff were delightful and welcoming. Car parking can be a bit awkward at times with functions in the middle of Kelso taking up the usual space, but there is plentiful parking behind the hotel.

We stayed at the Cross Keys for just the one night as a stop off on our way much further south. The location is fantastic and right in the centre of the beautiful Kelso Square. From the point of booking to checking out every member of staff we encountered were so friendly, helpful and made us feel so very welcome.

We had dinner in the hotel (Saddlers Restaurant) – the food was delicious, with a good balanced choice of dishes and also very reasonably priced.

Breakfast the next morning – well WOW!!

My only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer as it was just a stop off visit - and explore properly what appears to be one of the most beautiful towns we have ever visited.

Although we only stayed one night – from what we experienced I could not fault the Hotel and their staff in any way.

We will most definitely be back sometime in the future.

Thank you Cross Keys Hotel

I stayed here for one night in a single room ahead of business in the area. The location could not be better, right in the heart of the town. Parking is free outside overnight, with longer term free parking available a short distance away.

Check in was very efficient and every staff member I met was excellent. My room was a single and the layout didn’t make best use of what was a large room but it was clean and well maintained. This was the first hotel room I have stayed in for a very long time without a shower, instead having a large bath.

Decoration of the hotel was excellent, with a lovely selection of “country pursuits” artwork on the walls.

I ate dinner and breakfast in the hotel and both meals were excellent, well priced, and much enjoyed.

The room was rather warm, but the fan in the room was much appreciated. There were also loud noises from nearby, I’m not sure whether within the hotel or in a neighbouring property, between 10.30 and 11.00pm, but they delayed speech. The other issue with noise is that the cobbles outside look wonderful, it vehicles driving over them make a lot of noise!

Minor niggles notwithstanding, I would happily stay here again.

Stayed for 2 nights and totally felt at home there. Friendly, helpful staff and what a treat to actually get a really good nights sleep in a hotel bed! Decent food and even 'ice cream' at reception!! It gets a big 'thumbs up' from us!

Stayed here June 2019 for fishing trip to Kelso. Basic but reasonably priced and central to town. Beds were comfortable and service very friendly. However I ate a rib-eye steak (think approx £21 + £3 for a sauce) which was bland and the Diane sauce was awful. I would stay here again but would probably go elsewhere to eat dinner. Other than that it was quite good.
