Fabulous place to stay. Very comfortable with beautiful surroundings. Amazing night sky from the conservatory. Only minutes from local towns and places of interest to explore. Very friendly hosts. Would definitely recommend as a place to stay and would consider returning.
We really enjoyed our stay in the Bothy. The decor is lovely and we had more space than we imagined. Had a great walk along the river into Kelso and back along the old railway line. On a rainy day, it was very relaxing to read in the conservatory listening to the rain. The shower was 5* quality and nice extras like the free tea, coffee and biscuits were appreciated. For local meals, would recommend the steak at the Cobbles restaurant in Kelso - delicious. The only thing that let our experience down was that, like other reviews have mentioned, we found the mattress VERY hard and so didn’t get a good night’s sleep. If the mattress is changed in future, would definitely return and recommend to others.
Stayed for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. It had everything you would need for a relaxing break. Lovely little kitchen/lounge area which was very comfortable. Very well decorated and the log burner would be fabulous during the winter months. It’s attached to the main farmhouse where the owners Ashley & Simon live with their young children. Met Ashley as we were leaving and she was lovely. We only had 2 gripes about our stay 1) the mattress was as hard as brick and I mean REALLY hard 2) the small outside area which the patio doors looked out onto had a high fence which when you were seated cut off the views to the beautiful scenery beyond. The fence did provide privacy however. Would like to return in the winter but might bring a mattress topper lol. Thanks for milk and biscuits. All in all we loved it and would recommend it to anyone.
Kersmains bothy was just stunning. Really big comfortable rooms. We loved the library sitting room. Fantastic selection of books. Loved the conservatory kitchen area also. Great spacious shower. Had everything you needed, except a clock would be good maybe in the bedroom. Everything was very clean but we did have to rinse out the kettle as it was rather dirty. We would definitely book a stay again. A very peaceful place to stay but with Kelso Town just 3 miles away. Lovely wee town with lots of eateries. Would definitely recommend the Cobbles for a meal. Some nice wee shops also. Great charity shops with quality but cheap clothes.
Thank you again to Ashley & and Simon & thank you for the eggs.
We spent 3 nights at The Bothy. The cottage was very comfortable and spotless and tastefully decorated. The kitchen ,in the conservatory, was well equipped and a lovely bright room for breakfast with doors opening onto the patio.Simon and Ashley were very welcoming and were on hand if we needed anything.
A great base for exploring the borders and great walking around the area.
Would definitely recommend to family and friends.Hopefully we will get back.
We really enjoyed our weekend stay at the Bothy. The property is finished to a very high standard, everything is catered for and it’s situated in beautiful countryside just outside Kelso. Normally we would have eaten out at least one of the nights and had actually booked a restaurant for the second night but decided to cancel as we enjoyed the ambience of the property so much, deciding to have another meal in the conservatory dining/kitchen. One of the highlights was a lovely sunny riverside walk into Kelso rewarded by coffee and cake. For a relaxing, quality break from the stresses of everyday life you’ll definitely enjoy your stay at the Bothy.
An absolute gem of a cottage in a lovely location which had everything required for our comfort and entertainment. The south facing conservatory was excellent for relaxation and eating in the kitchen/diner.The location is handy for visiting the Border towns.
Ashley and Simon are lovely hosts and could not have been more helpful.
