My favorite room at any B & B on month-long tour of UK--friendly breakfast room, elegant lounge, very helpful host.

The beautiful house (built 1796) has been sophistically and sensitively furnished so that just walking into it you feel relaxed, inspired, connected to history, and surrounded by every comfort all at once. It's like the epitome the calm, elegant, rural atmosphere of Kelso itself. Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast was delicious. The landlord was able to answer all our varied questions and booked a restaurant for us. We were only there one night but wanted to stay and enjoy it much longer!

Welcoming & friendly host and we were made to feel at home. Turn down service was best we had experienced anywhere. Good suggestions given for sightseeing and we both had a fabulous breakfast each morning. More than happy to recommend The Old Priory. We shall rebook in the future.

We have just returned from 2 weeks staying in B & B's in Scotland and The Old Priory was truly excellent. From the minute we arrived we were made feel very welcome fand at home in this beautifully appointed home. It has been so well restored with large comfortable rooms and a four poster bed. The hospitality tray had a lovely variety of teas and biscuits. There was also great guest lounge with books, games, tv, dvd available to relax with. We were given good advice as to a restaurent for dinner .Breakfast the next morning was served in a bright and cheery dining room and was delicious, and kept us going well into the afternoon. We wished we were booked in longer, and would thoroughly recommend this B & B.

For us the best B&B by far as we travelled around Scotland for two weeks. Robin is a great host and the service you receive in the Priory goes just that bit further... different flavours of tea, sweets and biscuits, bed turned down, very clean rooms, lovely breakfast and good laughs! definitely would recommend to all friends as we did this year and they too had a great stay! Thanks Robin, we will be back! Marjan & Martin

Everything was just fine. When we arrived in the evening we got a warm welcome and an extremely helpful host who explained everything in detail and even booked a table in a restaurant for us. In case of any doubts or questions there was always someone willing to assist.. Especially when it came to choosing sights in the area for a nice day trip the host, Robin Girdwood, turned out to be close to a professional tourist guide sharing all his knowledge of local history and culture.
The rooms were nice and comfortable and equipped with a television, a kettle and to our delight always new biscuits.
Also the breakfast was excellent. In a very cozy breakfast room (my mother-in-law especially noted the lovely collection of jugs and mugs there)
to quite flexible times you could have everything from Haggis and salmon to the continental version of a breakfast including cheese.
All in all we really enjoyed our stay at The Old Priory in Kelso, which is a very nice town by the way, and would always highly recommend it to anyone who wants to spend a couple of days in the Scottish Borders.
I hope I didn't forget to mention anything important. Basically there was nothing we could complain about, but a lot that helped to make our stay there really enjoyable.
