we all had a lovely time at the bakehouse, the flat had all you needed, had lovely beds, and a great basket on arrival.
Well equipped, warm and clean.
Outside light at rear was sporadic and we had difficulty opening the key box after a 6 hour drive so not good.
But good welcome hamper and flowers
Enjoyed our stay and will return soon
The Bakehouse surpassed my expectations as a town base for catching up with friends and family prior to a wedding.
Great location, well furnished, well equipped, comfy beds, two bathrooms, plenty room for averyone.
Welcome hamper and flowers were a lovely surprise.
Fantastic flat in Kelso Centre, made very welcome with a welcome basket so full of goodies, and with the smell from the downstairs bakery didn't want to go out lol. Owner very kindly supplied a high chair and cot with bedding, we took our own stair gate. Would definitely recommend a stair gate if you are bringing toddler children. Flat very clean and well equipped.
This is a delightful property..spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished, very well equipped and very centrally located. The owners provided us with the absolute best ever welcome basket, which had not only the basics such as milk , tea and coffee but a whole array of delicious local produce as well as wine and fresh flowers,,,very very impressive and very much appreciated. On our first night there we had a problem with the smoke alarm going off repeatedly and the owner,Nikki, was there within half an hour of us informing her ,followed almost immediately by an electrician...superb service !!! The property is ideal for a family holiday in the Borders, being very central for all the other Border towns,as well as being almost in the centre of Kelso, handy for all the shops .I would definitely recommend the Bakehouse

The first and most striking thing about the Bakehouse is its location; right in the heart of Kelso and within easy walking distance of all of the main sights and amenities, including the stunningly beautiful Floors Castle. We parked at the Tait Hall, where spaces were plentiful and it was only a few minutes' walk to the house. The main recycling centre is also located in the car park, so we were able to make full use of that with no extra effort required.
The second most striking feature of the house is its charming, quirky décor with more than a dash of Parisian chic. Each room is fitted out with remarkable attention to detail, right down to thoughtful little touches like boxes of tissues and, of course, the crisp bedlinen and supersoft duvets mentioned by many other guests. We were there during a heatwave, so there was no need for duvets, but we did appreciate the fact that all of the windows opened easily and we were high enough up to get some fresh air.
Again, as other guests have commented, I was particularly impressed with the quality of the kitchenware and, in fact, I have subsequently purchased an identical set of saucepans and become a fan of the Jamie Oliver range. It was a joy to find a holiday rental where everything in the kitchen was in pristine condition and where everything worked! The full-size freezer was also a bonus.
Access to the house is via a fairly steep staircase and my elderly father, who was there with me, had to take this very carefully. However, the thoughtfully placed hand rails provided sturdy support and, by the end of the week, he could negotiate the stairs like an expert.
The care and attention shown by the property owners is reflected in a myriad of detail in this property, but nowhere more so than in the welcome pack. In many, many years of renting self-catering properties, I have simply never encountered such a generous welcome. Everything had been selected with care and a genuine desire to reflect the best of Borders hospitality; the Bakehouse most definitely achieves this - in spades!
