“Excellent B&B”
Reviewed 20 December 2013

Stayed here recently during my Trip to England and Scotland, This B&B is excellent and there are 4 rooms, We booked 3 rooms on the 12th and i got the room with the ensuite bathroom and it was spotlessly clean. It was small but had all the neccesary requirements.... They even had a DVD corner where i just lazed around and watched at night after the tour of the nearby distellery which was very educational for whiskey making.... The bar and restaurant here was very nice and uniquely decorated.... The food was good too as i had the Christmas Dinner Menu..... Overall, this was a charming and lovely place....

Was taken here for my birthday and the carvery was excellent. I chose the gammon and pork, my friend the beef and another friend the lamb and chicken. Cooked to perfection the meat melted in your mouth. There was a choice of about six different veg, from the usual carrots, cauli cheese, turnip (swede) and french beans to mushrooms and onions. Potatoes four different ways, yorkies, a range of sauces and a mouthwatering selection of both starters and puds. I skipped the starter and it was a good job as I'd never have finished my main and pud (sticky toffee as light as could be) had I tried one. Excellent value for money, Derek and his team always make you feel welcome.

We spent a couple of night here, and it was spotlessly clean and the beds were extremely comfortable.

There are only four rooms, and it's about a mile to walk to Wigtown (but take a torch - it's a very dark road).

My only criticism would be the breakfast arrangements - you choose from a tick list when you first arrive, the items that you want for breakfast the next day(s). With a maximum of eight guests at any one time, surely it would be just as easy to ask guests in the morning? Having said that, the cooked breakfast was delicious. Although you weren't "allowed" cereal if you were having the cooked breakfast.

We stayed here in June and spent a perfect 24hours. The welcome was was sincere and we were shown to a small but perfect bedroom, clean and comfortable. After a large and well filled sandwich we visited the Bladnoch distillery just across the road and tasted the 'amber liquid' and after a good walk on the near by coast we returned to a near perfect dinner, a friendly and interesting evening in the bar. Perfect, a 'must' place to go.

I booked in the Inn whilst visiting Wigtown. The quality of the room I was in was superb - very comfortable and very clean. Purely as a B&B it's excellent.

The added benefits are it's location near a distillery which is good to explore, convenience for Wigtown, the excellent food in the bar (go for the menu - the daily special offer is usually a curry which is OK but the main menu is much better), and the location next to the Bladnoch river.

But, bear in mind that the quoted prices do not include breakfast. This nearly bumps it down from a 5 rating to a 4 for me. But the other positives keep it as a 5.

It's a relaxing, comfortable place in a great location with great food. What more could you ask for?

I was caught out on a journey towards Scotland and found it was too late to drive back home, I was pointed in the direction of this public house/guest house.

It is always a gamble going to stay somewhere you do not know....within two minutes I was made to feel at home, great conversation with the staff, I ordered food and was pleasantly surprised, the meal was great value for money and the food was delicious, is was a Monday night and there where plenty of others eating here, so that also told a story of how popular this guest house is.

There where plenty of real ales and I really enjoyed the stay and would like to thank the staff for their help.

Considering I was away on business I felt like I was on holiday !

The room was comfortable and really clean and a nice touch a couple of bottles of mineral water in the room, I am now considering a sightseeing trip to this area as the views are really breathtaking and guess what I will most definitely be staying here.

Room Tip: I would assume, as it was busy on a Monday, that if you go at the end of the week or weekend to book...

We often go down the Bladnoch Inn for a meal and the food is always excellent, the staff warm and welcoming and the atmosphere brilliant. Right on the bank of the Bladnoch river and just across from the Bladnoch Distillery this is a wonderful base for exploring the area. The smoked haddock on champ mash is served with a great cheese sauce, whilst the chicken stuffed with haggis comes with my favourite Bladnoch sauce. I've never had a bad meal there.
