Stayed her for one night with husband and 5 year old daughter en route to Stranraer. Warm welcome by young girl on reception and we were shown to our room, room 8. The decor was dated but very clean. The was a double bed and a single bed in a small side room which was ideal for our daughter. We ate a late supper in the restaurant, tasty and good portions. The beds were comfy however it wasn't until the morning that we noticed several damp patches above the single bed where our daughter slept, the wall was actually wet! Our daughter was fine but could be a big problem for someone with a medical condition. Breakfast was good, very tasty and the lovely staff had even noticed what our daughter had written on the breakfast order card and brought it to table - thoughtful touch! All in all a pleasant stay but the rooms def need an overhaul.

Whilst visiting Newton Stewart from South Yorkshire, we came across The Crown Hotel and
would certainly return after the welcome we received and the excellent food that was served.
The Chef prepares the food fresh using local quality produce and obviously takes pride in
his work as the presentation was first class. The portions were generous and those that could
manage a sweet were given the opportunity for half portions which again were amazing and
the best sticky toffee pudding ever.

Stayed at thee Crown Hotel for a couple of nights B&B whilst we explored the Dumfries and Galloway Forest area. Hotel staff were friendly and the accommodation was OK and clean. Nice roomy bathroom/shower area. Breakfast was well cooked and although we mainly ate out during the day we had an evening dinner on our last night. I had the Beef and Guinness Pie and my partner the Mushroom and Pepper pasta both followed by Strawberry and Chocolate Sundaes. These were very tasty and delicious especially the Sundaes!! Portions were big and we had difficulty finishing. Hotel is very well placed to view all the attractions of the area.

Never actually stayed at the hotel as we were in a caravan site near by. We were looking for a place to eat & so glad we chose to stop at the Crown Hotel.

Great choice on the menu, great service by the staff & great meal.

Would definitely recommend this hotel for a meal.

Downstairs restaurant was modern, clean and comfortable.
Other reviewers have commented that the rooms were a bit out of date - I could see why they might say this but my room was clean and very adequate with an excellent shower
No hesitation to recommend.

I have to say what an amazing experience - the chef obviously takes pride in his work and knows how to cook good homemade food. The curry was out of this world you wouldn`t get any better in India and you could tell it was all made from fresh and not from a packet or jar, the steak pie was to die for so tender and meaty again you could tell its was freshly made. The portion sizes were great and you felt you weren`t just eating frozen rubbish like at alot of places. The service was fantastic and the waitress couldn`t have been nicer. Keep up the good work
