“1 night stay”
Reviewed 1 August 2013

Our stay at The Stables was very comfortable. We were welcomed with a refreshing cup of tea and biscuits. Lovely clean room and comfy bed. Bit small but for 1 night it was adequate. Jacqui was very helpful with suggestions for an evening meal which coincided with a pleasant drive. Breakfast in the morning was yummy!! Plentiful, with good choice of cereals and fresh fruit juices. Nice to be able to park on the drive as well. An excellent choice made from the internet!

Myself and three other geriatric motor bikers booked for five nights in June, but had to delay until July, thankfully this was not a problem for Jacqui and she managed to fit us in. We arrived after a 460 mile ride very hot and tired, and what a nice welcome, Jacqui made all a great cup of tea.

The rooms were nice nd clean, breakfasts were excellent, and you could order 'off piste' if you wanted without it being a problem, also breakfasts were never greasy, always nicely grilled with local fresh produce being used.

In summary, a great place to stay, Jacqui was fantastic, would certainly go back if in the area?

We stayed a week here and were very impressed with the room, the breakfasts and the friendliness and helpfulness of the proprietor Jacqui. She went out of her way to make us comfortable and help us in any way she could.

What a great place !! I arrived on a cycle tour (NCN 7 Lochs & Glens South) after 60 miles of torrential rain & wind. I stood at the door dripping & was immediately given a large plastic bag by Jacqui who insisted on washing & drying all my clothes, plus stuffing my shoes with paper to dry them !! I was also given homemade fruit cake to have with my tea. Secure bike storage at the rear in a locked shed. Jacqui even helped arrange for Brian a mobile bike mechanic to call out & replace my brakes that had been wiped out with the appalling weather. Lovely well appointed rooms & a colossal breakfast to set you up for the day. A friendly genuine host; it was a pleasure to stay there.

Room Tip: My room was at the side of the building, but I would think that whichever room you had it would be e...

As a group of 4 mountain bikers some proprietors could be put off, but we were welcomed with open arms.

Bathroom etc. were clean, top notch and we wanted for nothing.

Breakfast was spot on with fantastic salmon and eggs on the menu. When we came back with takeout we were not only allowed to use the dining area, but offered plates and tea!

When we asked if we could have some water for our bike washer, she offered us a hose.

That's what makes the difference between good and great accommodation.

Just got back home having been marooned in Newtonstewart for two days by the unexpected blizzard conditions. Being unable to leave via any road we chanced upon The Stables and ended up staying for two nights. Jacqui was marvellous, adapting accommodation to fit as many waifs and strays in as possible. Excellent food, wonderful charitable welcome to all, up to date travel information and advice and excellent humour. I am sure that the prospcet of a captive audience stranded in town tempts many people to hike their prices based on demand. Not Jacqui, scrupulously fair to the end. Scottish Tourist Board please note, the very best example of Scots hospitality one could wish for

Room Tip: Pick any one, we had 2 doubles and a single. All were top class
