“Just Perfect!!”

After what can only be described as a hellish few months, we just needed to get away from it all!! We loaded a van and a car and set off looking for places on the off chance......what a perfect find Balloch O'Dee was!! Beautiful place with plenty of space, the animals roaming free was lovely and the facilities are great!! We've been trying not to tell too many people about this place as we want to keep it all to ourselves lol!!

Already planning our next visit as it provided the break away that we needed.

Perfect!!

We went here for 3 nights and wished we could have stayed longer!
A lovely site unlike any I have seen before. I absolutely loved that there were horses, baby ponies, rabbits and chickens just wandering around the site (one night a few tent pegs were pulled out by a horse which I thought was funny). Our dog was also welcome to do the same.... He loved pottering about and seemed to make friends with the ponies haha.
The showers were great.... A real rainforest feel and I thought they always smelled lovely..... Realistically there needs to be more toilets and showers as I needed to sit watching the door til someone came out so I could make a run for it and have a shower, but once in.... They were so lovely and hot :-)

Midges were a bit of a pain, presumably not helped by bring around animals on a farm, but we coped.

Excellent base for visiting the various mountain bike trails... We particularly loved kirroughtree.

Such great value for money, would definitely recommend.

One thing I would say though is although we were on the electric hook up field, and it was lovely..... the non electric camp field is Beautiful!!! I would definitely recommend it if you can cope without electric. The views are unrivalled. Perfection.

We visited the campsite on the late May bank holiday weekend. We arrived close to dark but were still able to find a pitch no problem even though there were a lot of tents already up. Compared to other Scottish sites at this time of year, there were very few midges, even when the wind dropped. Dogs and miniature ponies wander the site and there are also rabbits to pet.

There are a number of BBQ areas and fire pits around the site and the owner offered to dig us a fire pit if we couldn't get camped near one. Wood can be bought on site but it is quick burning.

The facilities are lovely and unique, but there were far too few for the number of people on site. There are two toilets and two showers. I wasn't able to get a hot shower at any point during the weekend, I think the boilers were probably just struggling with the number of people. The incense and candles at night for lighting were perfect.

The down side of this site is that it is quite a drive from the main hiking / mountain biking areas, at least 25 mins.

Definitely a site to revisit on a quieter weekend as the crowds detracted from its appeal somewhat.

Just back from a 2 night stay at this campsite. We were warmly greeted and had a good pick of tent sites as there was only about 6 other tents in the field which made things even better as it was peaceful. Soon as we got the tent up we had a fire going in the purpose built pits which are great to sit around and relax with a drink. The staff were extremely helpful coming round asking if we were ok. The showers/toilets were fantastic. Extremely clean and fully stocked. It was great seeing all the animals free roaming like the chickens and ponys. Planning a return trip next month.

After just coming home from a wonderful weekend spent at Balloch o Dee site, had to tell everyone about this amazing place.
There is something for everyone, ranging from various animals that the children can cuddle & feed, the free roaming chickens & chicks, the Shetland ponies & their babies, to amazing facilities for both campers & caravaners alike - the brick built BBQ are fantastic as are the fire pits. The surrounding countryside is absolutely stunning with views of the Galloway hills & the forest.
We loved our visit so much we are going back again this weekend.
Hazel & James are great hosts, nothing is too much trouble & very very welcoming.
A truly amazing site & one we will be returning to many many times in the future.

We stayed for 2 nights with our horses. Hazel was very welcoming and accommodating, giving us the choice of stables or grazing or both. She clearly has a natural gift for understanding horses (and the wonderful collection of small breeds around the site) and we felt ok to leave ours to settle in her hands while we were off site (sorry, Hazel!). It is a beautiful haven of Scotland with far-reaching views, great for families without feeling like another sardine on holiday, and I envied the sole camper in his little tent reading a book by torchlight (or maybe it was a kindle)! I would like to do that too one day. All in all, very much like Darling buds of May without the twee and will certainly be back. Thanks Hazel and James, it is a piece of heaven, even our horse are missing it, calling for the friends they made now they are home - honest!

Third time I've stayed here and this time stayed in the bothy.

As usual was made very welcome and was given a quick tour as to where everything is. Toilets and showers are very clean.

The bothy is very well furnished and has everything needed for a relaxing time.

Really enjoy coming here and will return.
