“Lovely cafe”
Reviewed 22 April 2014

We have been in Wigtown twice in the last couple of weeks and each time have been to Belties - bright, modern and clean with very friendly and helpful proprietor and staff. We have not yet had lunch - though the pissaladiere which was dish of the day last time we were in looked very tempting and was getting good reports from other patrons. Pots of real leaf tea in interesting varieties (e.g. Russian Caravan) are on offer at very sensible price, and the whisky cake is wonderful !

“Delightful Discovery”
Reviewed 21 April 2014

Really pleased to come across this place on our scenic journey down from Ayrshire to Cumbria. A book shop at the front with a cafe at the back; the menu had a great mix of classics with an interesting twist (we had a hearty slice of pizza with fresh salad) and a refreshing selection of juices as well as great coffee. The proprietor was friendly, genuine and knowledgable and we were delighted to take him up on the offer of sitting in the garden to enjoy the Spring sunshine.

We couldn't stay for long as we had more travelling to do, but I could imagine staying for much longer to try the selection of cakes and teas. Would highly recommend and look forward to visiting when in the area again.

“New and fantastic”
Reviewed 20 April 2014

We visit this area often 8/9 times a year and are always on the look out for places to eat. We found this late last year shortly after it had opened and went in for afternoon tea and cake. We have become frequent visitors ever since, the last visit being Friday 18th April.
The café/bookshop is modern and nicely furnished. They have a good selection of tea and coffee, our favourite being the Russian Caravan Tea and cakes that are simply delicious. Try the courgette cake, it sounds strange but is absolutely mouth watering. The proprietor Andrew is a friendly and excellent host and a expert baker. We are back in Wigtown in a couple of weeks and cannot wait to call again for afternoon tea. You must try.

Visited here on our visit to Wigtown. The cafe was lovely and bright and the home baking was lovely both visits. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would love to come back and try the lunch menu.

“Wonderful Little Cafe”
Reviewed 30 March 2014

Very welcome on a blustery stormy morning, but would be very happy to visit on any day. Proprietor very friendly and prepared to chat or leave you to enjoy the good teas and coffees with home baked cakes and scones. The menu of light bites and meals looked good and as the very clean and tidy kitchen was on view sure they would be well prepared too. Book shop at front with modern and light cafe to the rear overlooking the garden.
