“A Hidden Scottish Heaven A Real Gem”
Reviewed 8 September 2012

I have stayed at Airds Farm numerous times over recent years and cannot recommend it highly enough to anyone. Tricia & Alan are amazing hosts, friendly and welcoming, accommodating to your every need, nothing is too much trouble, and they are both fountains of knowledge from recommending great walks - places to eat - things to see and do !

The house is in an amazing idyllic setting perfectly situated for visiting Dumfries and Galloway. The rooms are spacious, quiet and sparklingly spotless with all the finishing touches you could wish for with great views of the loch and the surrounding completely unspoilt countyside. There is ample parking and it is easily accessable from the main Castle Douglas to New Galloway road.

Tricia's breakfasts should come with a health warning.....you are going to put on weight during your stay!! They are better than a 5 star hotel anywhere !! Actually I am sure with the range of other nationalities I have met staying at Airds Tricias's breakfasts are probably by now world renowned !! They really set you up for the day ( no need for lunch ) there is always something for every taste, full of good quality local produce and if she hasn't got just ask and next day you will have it. The three Border Collies are very well trained and friendly and are a joy to have around.

Should you just wish to "nip out" for lunch or dinner I would highly recommend the nearby Thistle pub in the village run by Jim with Greek chef Nicos but dont judge the the book by it's cover. The food is to die for mostly sourced locally....rabbit stifado, beef stifado, pork souvlaki, gigantes, dolmades, huge butter beans in tomato sauce, mousaka, tatsziki. The Meze nights are great value for money but are highly popilar and I would recommend booking. If your not into Greek food don't be put off Nicos is just as happy to cook you the standard pub type fare fish and chips, steak and Guiness pie, scampi and chips, gammon, salad etc.

Airds Farm a real home from home, pure bliss but always sad to leave.

We wanted to stay on the Loch Ken Campsite, but it was raining cats and dogs. The weather was to bad to put up our tents and there were no caravans or mobilehomes available. So we looked for a bed and breakfast and we saw the sign of Airds Farm. The little long road ended at a beautiful spot and there was Airds Farm. We had a warm welcome from Tricia & Alan and there were 2 rooms available for us. The view from our room was breathtaking. The rooms were nice and clean. And the breakfast the next morning was very good. Three of us choose a Scottish breakfast and 1 had a continental breakfast.
We had dinner in Castle Douglas and the next day we made a wonderful trip on our motorbikes. The weather was nice and in the evening we walked to the Thistle Inn in Crossmichael. The food is very good there. The next day we had to leave again, but our memories are very good.

we have stayed here before in the b&b,but this time stayed in the large 8 berth house. The house is amazing, comfortable, quiet, and has everything you need,a real home from home! The owners were fabulous, the only problem was, that we had to come home!! I especially loved the area to the rear of the house, just to sit and relax next to the waterwheel....bliss

Room Tip: we have used the b n b ,and self catering, would highly recommend both.

This is the third time I have stayed at Airds Farm and the welcome, accommodation and quality of care is maintained. Nothing is too much trouble as Tricia Keith is hospitality personified, the rooms are comfortable, the views fantastic, the breakfasts scrumptious and having border collies to greet you is just the icing on the cake. If you are looking for B&B in Dumfries and Galloway look no further.
