worst hotel we have ever been in , a good clean wouldn't go a miss . Hostess has not a nice manner at all suggest she goes and find alternative way of making a living. room 19 is not fit to put anyone in , demolition is the answer. stay clear or go if u dare.

Room Tip: ask to see room before booking in !!! .

We came to urr valley hotel for a couple of nights stay with friends and we really enjoyed it. The hotel is situated in a nice quiet village, surrounded with fields. The hotel itself is really nice old Scottish house. We had a warm welcome to the hotel and the staff are really great. Our room was really nice too, bits and bobs needs updating but other then that a really nice stay. The beds are comfortable and I had a really nice sleep. I recommend this hotel to any one. The breakfast is really nice too. Definitely recommend this nice hotel to any one.

A brilliant "value for money" hotel .We stayed for two nights. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The accommodation is basic but absolutely spotless. We ate in the hotel both nights and the food was excellent both in terms of value and quantity. Just try the liver and bacon ! Couldn't manage a sweet. The views from the hotel to the front are stunning and the grounds make it feel in the heart of the countryside although its only a stones throw from castle Douglas. A great place from which to explore the Wigtown peninsular and environs. We certainly plan a return visit.

Room Tip: get a front of hotel view

We have just returned from a 2 day break and can honestly say the staff at the Urr Valley are the friendliest we have come across and nothing was too much trouble, our room was lovely and clean and plenty of hot water.
The breakfast was freshly cook and hot and tasty, the evening meals we had were great value for money and delicious.
We would be happy to recommed this hotel to anyone a nice relaxing break and look forward to returning.

We had a couple of days at the Easter weekend at this hotel which has recently been taken over. The hotel was warm, clean, with fresh linen and towels, but still in need of some TLC but the hosts were at pains to explain that they were having to do things slowly. The food could have been better, steak pie served with only chips, (no veg) and was very dry, as though the gravy had been poured on after, and the meat not cooked in it. Ale batter fish was a bit over cooked - I'm sure things will improve. We had a flat tyre and as we went to fix it, the people from the Dutch Pancake facility offered us tea and pancakes for free! And some guys who were painting the outside of the hotel also offered to help us. The staff were nice, one girl especially who served us in the bar and then at dinner, was particularly chatty and informative. Really lovely. The price of the alcohol was a bit steep we thought and the bar bill was almost as dear as the two nights we spent including breakfast! The breakfast by the way was plentiful and very enjoyable.

Just got back after a 2 night stay we only paid £59 for the weekend and even received a bottle of wine on arrival
We didn't expect a 5 star hotel before we went and it never claims to be that but can honestly say it's a very nice old hotel with plenty if character our room was very light and roomy an the food and staff very good
Breakfast was very nice infact can't complain about nothing just don't turn up expecting a quality 5 star hotel and I can guarantee you won't be disappointed

We are just back from two nights stay. Our room was very large with a four poster bed and large bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities, shampoo, shower gels, soap provided both days with lovely fresh towels each day, the room was clean, fresh and warm. The staff from the minute we arrived to the minute we left were lovely and welcoming and couldnt do enough for you. We had dinner both nights in hotel and the food was lovely and fresh. We are not big breakfast eaters but what we had was lovely and the portion sizes at dinner and breakfast were more than enough. If your looking for a peaceful getaway i would recommend. The hotel is going through an upgrade but it did not make our stay any less enjoyable. Good luck to you all at Urr Valley
