Fantastic setting and only a ten minute walk into Castle Douglas. Large clean rooms and its fair to say a bit of updating is needed but as new owners they are working on it. I have to say we had an absolutely fantastic time. Angela and all the staff were so welcoming and couldn't do enough for all the guests. Its definetly on my list to revisit soon.

Room Tip: Ideal for familes/ groups as there at least two family rooms with a double and two singles.

Although some minor upgrades on the rooms are going on this did not affect our stay. We had a two night stay in Room 20 which had just been done up with a 4 poster and 2 single beds. The room was spacious and had lovely views out of the window. The food was excellent with no complaints about quantity or quality. The hotel is et in spacious well manicured grounds probably around 15 acres so you can stroll about or sit in the sun. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to going back. It is ideal for cyclists, walkers and within easy reach of several nice places.
Thanks to Phil and Angie for your hospitality we wish you well for the future.

Room Tip: Ask for a front of hotel room, great views.

Had a lovely stay this week at the Urr Valley

Hotel. This hotel is in progress of being updated but has massive potential, already having lovely old rooms and public spaces. The food was good and plentiful!

The decor is a bit dated but the beds are extremely comfortable and very clean. I am looking forward to coming back for another break here as I had such a nice time. The grounds are immaculate and the views are spectacular. Thank you Angela and Phil For an enjoyable stay!

Spectacular scenery, wonderful food, friendly helpful staff and a very welcoming proprietor Angela. This really sums up our stay, yes the rooms have been neglected by the previous owner and it will take time to get the hotel back to its full potential but this is now happening and it is still a very pleasant place to stay whether for leisure or business.

Room Tip: Wi fi is free but limited to the reception and public areas.

Have just returned from a 2 day stay at The Urr Valley Hotel. We had a lovely time and the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. Also the breakfast was unbelievable and the portions were huge!! Also after a day out on our bikes we stayed in the hotel to eat for the second night and the menu was wonderful and so reasonable. Altho the bedroom was a bit "tired" we had a great sleep and left feeling the better of our stay! Would not hesitate to recommend the Hotel.

Room Tip: Ask to see room first, ours faced car park on ground floor and we could not leave windows open all night.
