“Great little place run by nice family”
Reviewed 14 December 2012

This is one of the few remaining little village pubs ran by a family, the whole log fire pool room etc .
Food is all home made and is very good, staff are all friendly and nothing is too much trouble alought most point out that Stacey who worked at the pub for years is a big loss but she has moved on to better things so good luck to her.

Recentlly voted pub of the year an award its shares with another pub in Dumfries Town centre but the Laurie arms wins hands down on service, food, beer and smiles.

Definatly worth a visit, day night or weekend as there is regular entertainment, even if its just the bar staff.. ;)

“Brilliant family freindly country pub !”
Reviewed 7 November 2012

We had been recommended this pub by the cottage we were staying at (Burnbrae Mill) we had had a full day of activities and were looking forward to a relaxing drink and some good pub food, we had our two year old daughter with us so we were a bit worried they may not let children into the bar area, so we asked before we went in, we were welcomed in with a huge bag of toys, colouring books etc, enough to keep our daughter busy for a good while anyway ! We sat in front of the fantastic open fire and enjoyed our drinks whilst ordering our food. I ordered the Goats cheese starter and the 'taste of scotland' (tatties, neeps and haggis with pepper sauce) absoloutley delicious ! My husband had the haggis and black pudding starter and the chicken and bacon melt for main (he struggled to finish this as there was so much), my daughter had the childrens portion of the beef roast dinner (they said they could do half portions of most things on the menu, which I prefer as I think most childrens menus are chips with everything !) My daughter ate everything on her plate it was also absoloutly delicious. Overall we were extremely happy with our visit to the laurie Arms, and we will return to bring our family and friends next time we are in the area.

“below average food, poorly served.”
Reviewed 14 August 2012

If you want poor food, badly served with apathetic waitresses this is the place for you! We ate there recently and wished we hadn't bothered, the meal came with frozen chips and no sign of garnish. What a waste of money! One to avoid.
