Booked on the day (just as well as the restaurant was full). The hostess was most helpful. Beer was brilliant and REAL. Food was good and wholesome. Staff were very good. Great pub, great beer, great food, great staff.

Very expensive for warmed up food, the game casserole was terrible, some of the meat was that burnt and dry that it tainted everything else and the "roast sirloin was a joke, more like roast bristle and a warmed up dried crisp Yorkshire pudding. Will never return, what it is it about the pubs around here, don't they need return custom?

Sandra the landlady keeps a well ordered, clean and tidy pub with first class real ale and home cooked food locally sourced. This is a find in anyones book and well worth the effort in finding it. The 501 bus stops right outside the pub.

This was our first visit for lunch for several months, and we were not disappointed. We were greeted with a smile plus a welcoming log fire. As always the choice of real ales was excellent, and served in perfect condition. The menu was innovative and offered a wide choice to suit most tastes. Our choices represented all that one can hope for in pub food so we left well satisfied.

Everything you would want from a village pub - friendly service ( and locals!) great range of real ales, good food, warm fires, pool table, bus service on the doorstep, even a fridge where you can buy milk -a lucky community to have such a great place.
