“Delightful Property in superb location”

From the booking to the end of stay Allan, the owner, couldn't have been more helpful. The house was absolutely lovely, in a very tranquil area. The house is "upside down" with the bedrooms on the ground floor and living space on the 1st floor. This worked really well as there are 2 large French type doors in the living room and with these open you could hear the birds singing and the little stream just outside the house. And with a wonderful view.

The house had everything you could want, with a bathroom downstairs and a large wet-room upstairs. The kitchen was very well equipped with plenty of cutlery and crockery.
The beds were very comfortable and all were a good size, with lovely crisp cotton sheets.
It was immaculately clean as well, which is not always the case with holiday rentals.
And there was the Victoria sponge cake, as others reviewers have mentioned, the best cake I think I have ever tasted, it was worth the admission price alone.

The area had plenty to offer and the house had loads of brochures of local attractions. Lovely Forests, plenty of beaches and excellent drives up to the hills. Hardly any traffic as well, makes a change from the congested South East.

I must make a special mention to Allan who was the nicest guy you could possibly meet. So helpful and friendly without being imposing. He even invited my youngest lad up to his house to play football with one of his lads. My son had a great time and it will be something he will always remember.

“Very comfortable accommodation”
Reviewed 4 July 2016 for a stay in June 2016

We chose Burnbrae Mill because we thought it would provide comfortable accommodation for four people (two couples), and this indeed proved to be the case. The cottage is a converted mill, excellently renovated, with a clean, modern interior, good quality furniture, interesting pictures on the walls, and lots of maps and information about the surrounding area. There was plenty of room for us all, without being on top of each other. There are two good sized bedrooms with very comfortable beds (plus a third bunk room), and two bathrooms, which made life very easy. There is a large, extremely well equipped kitchen (including full stove with grill and oven), where several people at once can work, plenty of counter space, and the added benefit of a dishwasher and washing machine. There is a lovely dining room, with windows looking over delightful courtyards full of flowers and feeding birds. The lounge is very comfortable with plenty of seating, and views over the countryside. The weather was far from perfect, so the large TV was a blessing for watching the tennis and football, and when we all got soaking wet on a walk, we were able to light the log stove to warm up, and dry everything and everyone. We also, of course, received Suzanne's legendary strawberry sponge cake, which really was absolutely delicious (and I am not usually a cake eater!)

“A great find!”
Reviewed 26 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

Stayed at Burnbrae mill for a long weekend. The accommodation is gorgeous with everything you could possibly need and more. The freshly decorated bedrooms are located downstairs with living areas upstairs to make the most of the stunning views. On arrival we were delighted to find a large fresh cream Victoria sandwich cake in the fridge. There was also milk, tea and coffee. The downstairs wetroom is a real luxury! Overall the house is well planned, spotlessly clean and is probably one of the best I have stayed in.The owners are warm and friendly but do not intrude. There is little light pollution so on a clear night the stars are AMAZING!

There is plenty to do in the area including numerous hiking trails. We especially loved the coastal walk from Sandyhills to Rockcliffe.

“A jewel in Scotland's crown”
Reviewed 17 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

I visited Burnbrae with my 3 children aged 10, 3 & 1 and my Mum. The property is immaculate and immediately felt like home. Holidays with toddlers can be difficult at times but with a stair gate and a bed guard rail and a lovely highchair provided everything was there and I could relax knowing the children were safe. The outdoor toys and pitch and putt in the garden are great too. Perfect location for any age group as either a quiet retreat or a base to explore all that Dumfries & Galloway has to offer. We visited Mabie Farm Park (using tesco clubcard vouchers), the Dino Park, the Cocoabean company, Cream o'Galloway and Drummuir farm ice cream. We also had fun on the beach at Sandyhills and Rockcliffe. The home baked Victoria Sponge is such a lovely gesture and was exquisite. The view from the lounge window is picture perfect and we were also fortunate enough to see another couple of lambs being born. Allan and Suzanne are the perfect hosts and have thought of everything. They are clearly passionate about what they do and have put a great deal of thought into providing the perfect getaway. Allan rescued me when my car got stuck with his tractor and both him and Suzanne took my 10 year old horse riding twice. They also invited her to play with their children which she thoroughly enjoyed. I have already recommended Burnbrae to many people and will continue to do so. My children were in tears when we left and this is testament to a wonderful couple who genuinely care about others, a rare trait these days. I cannot praise them enough and look forward to returning. Thanks again for a holiday to remember.
