Easy to understand why Threave Gardens are one of the National Trust for Scotland’s top ten most visited attractions. This is must visit for anyone visiting Dumfries and Galloway. Very worthwhile joining in with a guided tour of the house - fascinating.

“Beautiful”

A walkers paradise. The estates are gorgeous and you can walk out to Threave Castle and take a boat to visit the ruins. Wow

“Beautiful garden, great restaurant, good value for money”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 September 2013

We visited Threave Castle Gardens in September this year in rather poor weather. Despite the rain and wind the gardens were a delight to wander around, a super example of gardens that are well cared for and inspiring for the ordinary gardener to come away full of ideas.
There is a large variety of settings with lots of interesting designs hidden away in different parts of the extensive grounds. There is also the opportunity to enjoy a woodland walk alongside the outer perimeter of the actual garden.
The restaurant is modern, staff are very helpful, the choice of food is good and the quality and value excellent.

“A traveller's rest”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 September 2013

These gardens are some of the most attractive and well maintained of the many gardens I have visited in my life, both here and on the Continent. The staff were very friendly and helpful and our Scottish national Trust Guide, Des, made the visit to Threave House an added bonus. Well done to the students who keep the gardens up to scratch. Another added bonus is the views of the Galloway Hills as one walks around the gardens. The visitor centre is extremely good too, as is the cafe in the gardens.
