I stayed here for two weeks in late September/early October.
The house is well equipped, comfortable and with very large rooms throughout. The bed was probably one of the most comfortable I have slept in - with plenty of room even for my 6'2'' frame. There are 3 bedrooms in total.
All of the kitchen equipment works, was in good order, and was clean. We cooked in most nights, preferring this to eating out, and there was not really an occasion where we struggled for lack of pots, pans, cutlery. Top marks.
The living room has a wood fire. Because of the time of year of our stay, it got cool in the evenings and getting a fire going was fun (never done it before) and generated a lot of heat.
The owners live very close by, and are charming and friendly people. They even made space in their work shed for me to store my motorcycle to get it out of the rain which came some evenings. I appreciated this.
The location is excellent for hikers provider you have your own transport. The domes are great for exploring on foot, and it takes just 25 minutes by car (or bike!) to get you into excellent walking country. Puy de Dome is about 35 minutes away, but we preferred the domes to the north of this which are closer to the Gite.
The motorway (which is excellent, fast and empty) is about 10 minutes away. Because of this, it only take about 50 minutes to get to Mont Dore where more fantastic walking is to be had. Our day spent doing the Mount Angle loop was fantastic - an epic.
