We had lunch here and it has been a while since we've had such a great meal. The food is perfection. My taste buds were sooo happy. Everything was wonderful: service, timing, presentation, food preparation. A special place.

We booked a table for 10 at "La Pot" for a family lunch to celebrate a birthday. A friendly welcome and great service throughout were all part of a wonderful lunch. The starters of ham hock terrine and cream of leek and lovage soup were delicious with fabulous lamb and sea bass as mains. To finish the desserts of Thai lime syllabub and white chocolate parfait were truly exceptional. Many of the ingredients were locally sourced which I think is really important. House wines are competitively priced with a wide choice of wines providing good value options if you want to spend a little more.
Overall a really superb lunch, and fantastic value. La Pot is an absolute gem.

A friend inviting us to stay in Gullane made eating at La Potiniere viable as a drive home after was not required. The restaurant is compact but we did not have the feeling we were sitting on top of each other. After an interesting amuse-bouche the starter of hamhock with foie gras was superb, for those who can eat it. After the Thai coconut soup the lamb was excellent and cooked rosé at my request. I did not have a dessert but the other 4 guests did and were very complementary about them.
The wine (we had a Rioja and Picpoul de Pinet) were both of reasonable quality and price. The service, there is one front of house staff and the chef helps too was efficient and unobtrusive. At £65 per head with tip I thought it was value for money and a good evening out.

After a spell away, we managed to get a reservation here just a few days in advance. That is how popular it is. Food was excellent with a scallop starter delicious to taste and well presented. The Thai soup with coconut and fish cake was good too. The menu choice is limited and only fish or lamb for the main courses is not much of a selection. There are several, chef's freebies during the meal. The only downside is that more serving staff are needed;we have thought this before. The manager at front of house is very professional but over stretched. Nobody poured the wine which should be normal in a quality restaurant and we couldn't get the bill because he also does the desserts!
