“Good seafood pub”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 June 2014 via mobile

We decided to eat here on our way south. The pub is located on the side of the loch and has some great views if you are lucky enough to get a window table.

The beers we tried were excellent. The food was also good. The pub specialises in seafood, and although the menu isn't extensive, there should be something for most people. The oysters were lovely, but could do with better sauces (the Asian oyster sauce was just odd). I enjoyed the langoustines. The fish and chips was also very good. We were disappointed that the mussels had run out.

With a little more effort from the kitchen, this could be amazing, rather than just good.

“Miserable experience”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 May 2014 via mobile

This really is an awful pub serving awful beer that has no head and is as flat as a pancake. My wife and I tried two separate ales and both were shockingly badly kept. What's more the Staff grumpy & unwelcoming. Please don't bother, there are many better pubs in Ullapool.

“lively atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 May 2014

Slipped in for a pint and found the place well stocked with customers enjoying their food and drink. Live folk band playing good music.
Great place to visit and nice views out the windows.

“Bar maybe better than restaurant”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 May 2014 via mobile

We had a window table overlooking the loch which was great (providing a car hasn't parked outside the window to block the view!). Mussel starter and langoustine starters were good. We both wanted fish pies but were told there was only one left. Unfortunately, other diners also requested fish pie - why they weren't told when given the menu is beyond us. Sadly, the evening was spoiled by the noise in the dining room. A spring loaded door to the bar and outer door was banging very loudly as people came in and out. Further noise came from the extractor fans in the kitchen. This could be heard even when the kitchen door was closed, but when the waitress came in and out (which was frequently) it was like being in a ship's engine room. Even the kitchen staff had to shout to make themselves heard above the noise. If you decide to give it a try, would recommend eating in the bar area rather than the small restaurant. The main course food was average and service could have been a lot better. If you want a more peaceful atmosphere to eat your meal there are other restaurants in Ullapool which are better.
