We are both interested in geology so this was perfect. Well signposted and easy to find your way around. Good car parking and toilets (ever more important at our age). The climb to the viewpoint is not the easiest for 60+s but well worth the effort especially if the weather is good.. Allow a couple of hours for the visit and perfect as a break when touring the area.

Nice little visitor centre that has been updated but best to go on a Wednesday morning (10am) for the guided tour run by a lovely girl (in 2014 at least), who is an archaeogeologist, very knowledgeable, and really interested in the whole area. Great insight into the landscape and 3 billon years of history.

Fabulous views from the top.

We had initially planned to visit this site only for the geology, but were very pleasantly surprised to discover that it sat within an absolutely stunning landscape. If you're into geology, it definitely delivers and is very well signed so you know what you're looking at as you explore the site. The site of the thrust itself can take a little bit of climbing up stone stairs to get to, but is completely worth it.

What's even more worth it though, is to take the entire trail, visiting the two lookout points on top of the hill. We were there on a bright, but overcast day, and the views of the surrounding lakes and mountains were just stunning. Some of our best photos from the trip were taken on this trail. We absolutely loved our time at this site and would definitely come back.

Not everybody will be into the "Moine Thrust" but the visitors centre here is well laid out and explains the geology through a series of displays, audio presentations and, especially, the well-labelled geological samples placed in their correct order so that you can identify those rocks in the cliffs. If you are not into geology, the walks are pleasant and the views pretty good!

Great little information centre here which really explains the Moine Thrust. Really worth doing the small circular route around the top of the Crag - some great views from up there.
