What a fabulous find. Stayed here for one week with my partner and teenage son and loved every minute. The house is very well equipped, the beds are very comfortable and the views from the windows stunning. Having the small decking outside was great for evening meals and for watching the wildlife including; Golden Eagles; White Tailed Eagle; Great Northern Diver; Red-Throated Diver; Greenshank; Redshank; Common Sandpiper; Red Breasted Merganser; Eider - no seals or porpoise unfortunately!
The single track road to the cottage is fun - lots of passing places and stunning views and the beach at the end is fabulous. The only minor irritation was the poor/non-existant TV signal but that wasn't a problem for us as we had lots of books, dvds, and games for poor-weather entertainment.
Recommend stocking up at the Co-op on Portree, Isle of Skye before catching the ferry but there's a surprisingly large and well-stocked community shop at Leverburgh. Also recommend a meal at the North Harbour Bistro and Tearooms on Scalpay - booking essential.

We've been to Harris a few times now and this is the best place we have stayed in so far. The welcoming tea and cake was perfect to settle in after a long journey while sitting outside and taking in the fabulous view.
Loads of room in the house which is well maintained, tidy and tastefully decorated, plenty of amenities, all mod cons! Nice and warm when needed too with electric radiators in every room.
Wifi wasn't up to inner city speeds maybe but was perfectly adequate 0.5Mb/s each way and an unexpected bonus for such a wild location.
Speaking of the location... perfect for those who want to watch wildlife and wander the hills of North Harris, it's a little bit of a drive to get to the bright lights and hustle of Tarbet (who am I kidding!) but no need to hurry anyway... Just make sure to leave at least 30 mins before last ferry check in when you finally have to tear yourself away.
Would book again without hesitation.

We have just spent the most fantastic week staying at 'The Old Post Office'. I am so impressed with the size, layout, ammenities and ambience of this home from home, self-catering cottage. Everything has been thought of and is available equipment wise. The views are stunning, it is an ideal central location to explore the whole island of Harris and Lewis.
A 20 minute drive from the main road, you are greeted with cake, fresh eggs and everything to make a cuppa.
I stayed as a single parent with my 2 boys aged 12 and 5. They have absolutely loved everything about the house and holiday. It will comfortably accomodate 5 people, with a study for reading or for kids to game if they like that kind of thing, and a comfortable sitting room with tv, although we don't watch tv, there are far more exciting things to see and do on the island!
Breakfast on the decking each morning watching the ebb and flow of the tide is super, looking out over the sea loch with wildlife all around.
You will not be disappointed renting this. We will stay again, hopefully in the winter!! The pictures don't do this house justice as its much more spcious than the pictures appear. The beds are very comfortable and the place is extremely clean and also warm.
There was no intrusion from the cottage owners, infact it's our last night here and we've not met them. All their contact details are provided as are lots of local details and day trip ideas, but if you need them I'm certain Tina and Lena will be there for you.
Little touches like binouculars, OS maps, widlife books, cook books, candles and hot water bottles to use are brilliant.
From here we visited the outstanding Luskentyre and Scarista beaches several times, the Eagle Observatory, Great Bernera, Callandish Stones, Blackhouses, went sea fishing for our supper (with Seamus, ask at Tarbert tourist information), Butt of Lewis, Rodel, Hishinish, Scalpay and more!
Our Rhodesian Ridgeback also loved it and there is plenty of room to put a large crate in the downstairs hall, plus the garden is fully enclosed with sheep wire.
We will certainly be back to Harris and most definately be staying here again.
We recently had a fantastic time at the old post office house. Perfect location on the edge of the water, quiet part of the island but still only 25 minutes from Tarbert. House was cosy, enjoyed the home made scones on arrival and the attention to detail throughout made our stay so comfortable. Highly recommend.
This has to be the BEST s/c house we have stayed in, it is 8 miles along a good single track road but it is so worth it. The house was so well equipped, comfortable, spotlessly clean lovely comfy beds and a dream of a view over the loch. The view and the wildlife from the front window or decking area just fantastic golden eagles flying over evening time we hardly wanted to leave to visit other areas, glad we did Hushinish beach is around 3 miles further along the road and absolutely stunning we went in all weathers and saw it in so many different lights. From here would recommend the walk over to Traigh Mheilein beach. Whole area of North and South Harris is a photographers dream destination We went all over Harris and went in some great little cafes and art galleries If you are visiting Harris we would highly recommend this house . Can,t praise it highly enough. Many thanks to Tina and Lena for such a memorable stay.

Just returned today from a fantastic week on Harris! Stunning place and well worth a visit! The Old Post Office is excellent. The road to it is interesting to say the least but don't let this put you off! We saw deer, stags, new lambs, sheep and birds of prey on it. It's a road to be cautious on but everyone travelling it has the utmost courtesy, something you don't really get that much of on the roads these days. As for the cottage itself it has everything you need, the kitchen is very well equipped and the living area is very comfortable. We found the cottage very clean and lot's of lovely touches such as Harris tweed cushions, stunning pictures of the local area, coal fire, books of the area, oh and binoculars! On that.... you need them as the view from the cottage is utterly stunning!!! We can't recommend this cottage enough......thank you so much to the owners for the time and effort placed into this and making our holiday one to remember!!!

Found on TA and booking was simple thanks to Tina.
The location is P E R F E C T with three bedrooms, a large bathroom, generous kitchen, cosy sitting room, utility room and a downstairs WC.
A week here is wonderful, but not if you like sitting on a sunny beach getting a sun tan. It can be wild, windy, sunny, warm and cold all in the same day. We find the islands wonderful and OPOC is fabulous accommodation.
We stocked up with supplies in the Stornaway Coop (including Black Pudding from the butcher next door) and set up home in the cottage. Plenty of room, well equipped, cosy and very comfortable.
We are short on sunshine but we don't come here to sunbathe. We had a wonderful time on the Westside, including the best Hancock collected extra large scallops I've ever had. So big that it took three minutes a side to cook them. They were outstanding.
We love the isles, we love the weather, we love the sights and we give Old Post Office Cottage a six star rating for self catering accommodation - thank you Leena & Tina.
Visit Harris, do your research to make certain you're ready for it, book the cottage and the ferries and then RELAX ! ! !
