Had a lovely time at the Cliff last weekend. From the moment I stepped into the lovely refurbished reception the staff were welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them. Felt thoroughly relaxed and looked after, especially after a visit to the spa!

Look forward to returning here again soon especially to see the continuing positive refurbishments under way with the new and experienced owners and to try the afternoon tea which I've heard is delicious!

I highly recommend the salt and pepper calamari which they have on the menu and the mini-facial treatment at the spa (especially for those on a tight time schedule) even though I personally probably ruined its effects with the very helpful bar staff during the evening!

Thanks for a great celebration weekend!

We had lovely food, very tasty meal on friday night and a very good breakfast on saturday morning. Lovely views in the room, clean and welcoming. Modern decor, and spacious rooms. Reception area was very nice and fantastic views! Lovely place.

Once again visiting the area and struggling to find a eating place that offers consistency in both food & service.

Visiting the Cliff Hotel Last night with my parents was a disgrace!

I will just summarise, you make up your own mind!

Staff looked dirty and scruffy! Clearly no training had been offered, as main arrived minus one of the orders, followed 15 min later!

Food cooking standard was disgusting, prawns were like rubber where they had been burnt after leaving under the grill, rare steak was well done, med/rare was v well done!

White wine plonked on middle of table, cap still on! Water took 3 requests finally arrived plonked on table with no apology etc..

After the complete mess up with the order no apology or discount offered for disappointment.

We left, never to return, my parents were married here a few years ago and I have to say it was truly disappointing that the hotel has been allowed to go so downhill, it's times like this that you wish a branded hotel with monitored standards was introduced to the area!

Anyone who has a suggestion for a eating location which offers friendly, welcoming, good food in this area please drop us a line here!

Many thanks

James

Booked the Cliff Hotel through Living Social Deals. Read previous reviews and mainly agree with them. The hotel IS a work in progress and that means that work is going on around you, although it is fairly unobtrusive. The new owner has completely remodelled the reception area since taking over 3 months ago and if that is anything to go by then it will be fantastic.
Staff are friendly and helpful. We had booked a sea view room but when we saw it we asked to be moved as the seams in the wallpaper were coming apart and the toilet had a distinct aroma of urine, the view was good though! We were moved into the newer part of the hotel and the decor here was better, not sure if it had recently been decorated but it looked as if it had and the bathroom was clean and reasonably modern tiles. We also had a little balcony which was sweet.
The bed was comfortable and plenty of clean towels and hot water but no toiletries apart from a horrible squeezy hand wash thing. Although the room seemed to have an air con control, I'm not sure if it was air con or just a fan. There were what looked like down lights in the corners of the ceiling and they blew air down very gently and non too cool either so the room was hot, as was the weather. We could have left the balcony door open but it was only about a metre from the ground so not very secure during the night.
Food was not bad at all. Basic breakfast of eggs, bacon etc some cereal and toast, poor fruit choice and if you wanted croissants you needed to be up early! The bacon was mainly meat with very little fat and very tasty.
We ate in the restaurant both night and my fillet beef stuffed with cream cheese, olives and tomatoes was so good, I had it both nights. I also had the trio of chocolate dessert both nights too - delicious.
Had an excellent massage in the spa, the sauna and heated benches are very good but the gym is too crowded with equipment. Nice spa pool too
All in all a lovely hotel in wonderful position with beautiful views.
By the way, there us a super little nine hole golf course in the grounds with some tricky shots across inlets to the fairway. Well worth an hour and you can hire clubs but they aren't brilliant.
Really enjoyed the place and the weather was good too.

Great location on the Cardigan coast. Restaurant and bar have sea views and if you're lucky you may see dolphins. Gorgeous sunsets. Staff were helpful and friendly. Bar prices reasonable. Dinner - good. Breakfast - better (although there can be a queue for the coffee machine). Spa was lovely and welcoming. Room was clean with standard hotel quality fixtures and fittings - the local pictures on the walls a nice touch. Bed was comfy and good black out curtains. We stayed on the ground floor, on the car park side, and like another reviewer had people walking closely past the window after they'd parked their cars. Please get some WD40 for the numerous creaking doors throughout!
Beautiful part of the country.

Room Tip: I would imagine that first and second floor rooms have better views and are quieter. The ground floo...

We had a fantastic time in West Wales and the hotel is situated on the cliff, as its name implies. The view from our side room was of Cardigan Island. It was magically shrouded in sea mist in the morning and arose out of it, a few hours later.
The coastal path is directly infront of the hotel but comes to an abrupt halt a few hundred metres away as a neighbouring farm has refused permission for walkers so one has to make a detour to reconnect.
Two small beaches can be accessed from the footpath but both are steep and not navigable if one is frail or you have young children.Great for seclusion, though.
Nearby is Cardigan. We had a great time walking around the town and it still has most shops, open.Plenty of coffee shops and there was music on the Friday and the saturday nights we were there, in a local pub. Bit too far to walk to from the Cliff Hotel, unfortunately.
Evening meal was included in a deal we had and they were fine. Husband was pleased as there was a Cornish beer on sale and coffee, from a machine, was available after the meal.Fab view from the restaurant of the bay and Poppit sands....good as being abroad as the weather was very sunny.
Spa was excellent with heated seats. I hadn`t realised this until the second visit. they were very good!
We shall be revisiting as we thought the situation, magificent. The building is rather tired but we don`t mind that as we don`t intend staying in the room when there`s so much else to see. Day trips to New Quay,Llangranog etc.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view..front to see the bay, side to see Cardigan Island.

Have stayed at this Hotel over many years and always received excellent service. All of the staff give 100% and they are always courteous and helpful. The food is very appetising and the Hotel also caters for anyone who has a diet restriction. ( however do inform them when you book your stay as this does help the restaurant and chef- and they have never let me down ever).

The Hotel is now under new ownership and major renovations are well under way which has only enhanced the already wonderful hotel and the parts that have already been finished are of a very high standard.

The rooms have lovely views across Cardigan Bay and have all the amenities that is required.

The Hotel has a great spa which offers all kinds of pampering,

If you are planning a stay in Cardigan I can highly recommend this Hotel.
