“Weekend Break”
Reviewed 13 August 2014

The location of the hotel is very good, with glorious views of the coast line and blue sea. Being next to a golf course, this also means that the surroundings are open and quiet.
The reception area is modern and bright, and I was welcomed quickly, with the check-in process being straightforward. My room was located on the side of the buidling closest to the car park, and the rooms were very well presented. In addition, the decor was up to date and clean.
The bar area was laid out well, however the decor was old. When walking around other parts of the Hotel, it is evident that a refurbishment is under way. Other areas included the dining area, as well as the side of the buidling closest to the coast line.
I did not personally use the spa facilities, but other guests said that the facilities were good. Looking through the window of the spa reception, suggests the refurbishment has been completed.
The reason I have given a 4/5, is due to the inconsistency of standards, specifically the contrast of newly refurbished, opposed to yet to be refurbished. In addition, some of my travel companions who had rooms facing the coast line, said their rooms were inadequate, dated and constructed poorly.
I would stay again, but would request a room as I had before, given I know they are more modernised.

Room Tip: Opt for rooms closest to car park

We have just stayed for two nights, and found the staff excellent nothing was to much trouble. The breakfast was hot and replenished often. Our meal at night was very tasty. Our bedroom was spotless. We will return. When the new owners have finished refurbishing this hotel will be fantastic.

Room Tip: Ours was next to the car park, but was no problem.

We come here at least three times a year as my parents used to live locally and we have just returned from a stay this weekend. We love the panoramic views, the area for walks and the people.

Over the last year we have seen many changes for the better. The Cliff was long overdue a refurb. The spa is an added little bonus as it doesn't seem to get too busy and we find it relaxing. The gym is ok for a quick workout, but the coastal path is great for long walks.

We normally stay in the newer part of the hotel and once stayed in the old part and wow it really needed doing up.

This weekend we stayed in a refurbished room in the old part. Whilst it is such an improvement from before, we really felt that the room had been done on a budget and was so sparse. However, it did have big patio doors with that fantastic view over the sea. One thing missing, possibly being picky was in the bathroom there are no hooks or shelves.

The breakfasts are so much better than before. Always good quality bacon etc., but now there is nice fresh fruit and croissants/cheese.

We ate in the bar last night and even though there was a long wait for food, we really enjoyed it.

We look forward to our next visit and can't wait to see what has been done.

Arrived Sunday evening after a long journey, welcomed enthusiastically everything clearly explained wrt room, breakfast, evening meals, booked a table straight away, availability of spa. Felt really at home. The room was clean and tidy but unfortunately the bathroom had no shower curtain but not a major problem once reported. Went to the restaurant and WOW what a view. Presented with the menu and wine list. Here lies for me the one thing missing. It is very limited unless you want steak, steak or even steak. After that it was rather limited. I suppose with Cardigan a distance away then guests are pretty captive. First night I had the baked salmon and my wife had the lamb tangine with stuffed mushrooms as a starter all very well presented and very edible. Breakfast is a magnificent affair with a large selection of cereals, fruit juice, cooked food, eggs, bacon, sausages etc. Cheese, croissants, coffee from a machine but excellent nonetheless, various teas all in all a great start to the day. Trip out to Fishguard for the day, back then for a quick bike ride up a Cat 4 hill quite steep for the uninitiated. Well after 2 laps round I was Cream crackered. Arrived back at the hotel and used the Spa facilities swimming pool, sauna, steam room excellent. Booked into the restaurant and had starters of spring rolls followed by Hunters chicken with potatoes n side salad while the wife had hake with prawns and cheese with roasted new potatoes and seasonal veg, excellent. Following day trip to Cardigan and New Quay.
Evening meal then became a dilemma having had what was best on the menu it was steak or whatever settled on spring roll starter, steak and ale pie with chips while my wife finally opted for Chicken Caesar salad, and having had speedy service on the first two days it appeared the joker was played and after an hour the starter arrived 2 spring rolls, followed 1/2 an hour later by the pie etc. Not the end of the world but a bit of a let down. However I'd like to especially thank Natalia for her enthusiastic service and impromptu birthday dessert for my wife with a couple of candles.
Wifi available in the reception area and lobby but 3G and phone signals are hit and miss but not the end of the world.
All in all a great trip, hotel excellent staff enthusiastic just a guiding hand needed with the younger element but great and friendly nonetheless. Would I return Absoflippinglutely. Good luck to the owner just a wider menu would be better.

Stayed here for 2 nights while working in cardigan. Wow what a spot. Such potential, unfortunately just potential
The spa - awesome
The reception - beautiful
The view - to die for
The room - very poor
The food - warrants more explanation. I arrived about 5pm to be told. The dining room was full that night but they might!!!!! Be able to find me a table in the 'coach house' or I could eat on the bar.
This is very poor. A hotel should be able to feed its residents.
The work that is going on is noticeable but not intrusive.
When I asked the way to the bar I was transported into the 1970's. In fact I remember a put looking just like this from my youth!
The bar food was OK. Lasagne - lots of it but a bit bland. The steak was lovely but expensive. I suppose you get what you pay for!
The room. Old 1980's furniture - battered and marked. Old wallpaper and on the first night milk for the tea and coffee. I know they are going to address the decor but the lack of milk shows carelessness.
Would I stay here again - love to when it's complete. Would love to know what they are doing with the bar

Please can they lets know where to get those pebble pictures. I love them

We decided to book a weekend break short notice and came across the hotel via Amazon local deals.
The hotel provided a good base for the weekend and the food was great. The breakfasts in the morning were brilliant - almost enough to fill you up all day and as a veggie I was also given a really good choice.
As other people have committed the hotel is currently under restoration but don't let that put you off. The golf course is well recommended - I had never played before and had a great time collecting golf balls off the beach:)
The staff were all really helpful and if you need taxi's to go anywhere they can be organised from the Reception area.
We would definitely come back to this hotel in the future.

Room Tip: Maybe ask for a room with a sea view

Stayed here as part of a 9 day tour or Wales. Beautiful views and grounds in this hotel. Obviously just been taken over and in need of some tender loving care on the outside. Lovely food but very poor restaurant management. ie. all running round like headless chickens with no idea what food was for who..... Couldn't see what was so difficult really.lovely spa and room. Beware of local walk sign which we followed and got lost on!!!
Would visit again.
