“We had a wonderful time”
Reviewed 7 June 2014 via mobile

We stayed here for a weekend in April, it was recommended by a friend, and lived up to great expectations, the whole b&b was exceptionally clean and beautifully decorated. The food was freshly prepared and locally sourced, John and Jupp were wonderful hosts, the scenery from our bedroom was second to none. Overall a wonderful break and we are looking forward going back.

Great location. Everything in the house is more than perfect to make you feel comfortable. My room was actually a studio with two different areas, and amazing views over the estuary. The house is refurbished, spotless and nicely decorated. The breakfasts were delicious, with different choices, I'll miss them!
I was given exceptional tips by the hots about walks and places to visit. Jupp and John make you feel at home.
Briefly, the only negative point is the sadness you feel when it's time to leave.

Visiting Snowdonia for a short walking holiday, we could not have picked better accommodation. John and Jupp were very welcoming and helpful, offering plenty of advice on good local hikes. The room was spacious, clean and quiet, with the added benefit of a lovely sea view. I particularly like their policy of no TVs anywhere, which only makes a stay here more relaxing and comfortable

We stopped for two nights en route to our wedding on a cycling tour we were doing. John & Jupp made us very welcome and our stay with them was a really special part of our trip.
Dros y Dwr is perfect in every way - the room was pristine & very classy, the views, breathtaking. There is amazing attention to detail throughout and you certainly feel in the lap of luxury. We made use of the library and enjoyed relaxing by the window.
Breakfasts were brilliant with everything being home made - the preserves, the toasted breads and they were all delicious.
Jupp showed us a lovely walk that we enjoyed and the hospitality of Dros y Dwr is spot on & certainly makes us want to return.
The area is beautiful as well. Brilliant for walking, cycling or just relaxing by the seafront.

First class welcome; warm, sincere, informative. Room with some view. EM Forster would have loved it. Breakfast sensational. Rooms clean, well appointed and comfortable. Will be back here soon. The town had a lot of charm with a great pint of local beer in the Royal and top quality bar meals in the Last. The latter had a well inside!

Room Tip: All three rooms were exceptional. John took us on a full tour.

This is a brilliant Bed and Breakfast with an extraordinary view over the Mawddach bridge and estuary.

The room we had is characterful, very spacious and spotless with a cute table/chairs setup in the large bay window. The shower was very powerful and the bed very comfy. John and Jupp made us feel very welcome and offered advice on walks and eating out (The restaurant they recommended was wonderful). Their legendary breakfast - complete with fresh homemade bread and preserves, and some of the best scrambled eggs you're likely to get in Wales - certainly lived up to the hype. To top it all off, the weather the weekend we were there was also perfect - not a cloud in the sky.

Barmouth is a beautiful place, and Dros y Dwr must be the best place to stay within it.

This was our second visit to Dros y Dwr and we were greeted like long-lost friends by John &
Jupp. Through in the lounge we found a roaring log fire and afternoon tea with homemade cake and chocolate biscuits.

Our room on the second floor had been newly painted and was as clean as a new pin. The stunning view across the estuary was as fabulous as ever. I could spend hours watching the changing scene as the tides come and go.

It was New Years Eve and we were treated to a five course banquet (with Jon's homemade bread - of course!) and champagne, at no extra cost!

The breakfast choice was as wide as ever and we were allowed to come down at 10 o'clock, which was just as well after the meal the night before.

This review does seem to be all about food but that is one of the main delights of staying at Dros y Dwr - so - on with the diet and here's to our next visit.

Room Tip: All rooms have the fabulous view over the Mawddach Estuary
