Owner description: For that vintage seaside atmosphere of candy floss and donkey rides, set up your deckchair in the section closest to the town. The Blue Flag beach is never overcrowded and also has trampolines, bouncy castle and pirate ship during the Summer. If you want a quieter space for your picnic and to be closer to the sea, then venture further along the one-mile long promenade perhaps using the land train which runs the length of the promenade.

“Favourite part of Barmouth”

Part of the attraction of Barmouth is the enormous beach. Especially when the tide is out you get acres of space to yourself. You can wander for ages taking in the refreshing sea air. Enjoy !!

“Beach has changed”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

Since the wall across to the island was built, the sand has built up along it. Sand dunes have formed at the 'bend' in the prom and have spoilt the look of the beach as it is no longer 'open'. It's starting to look like Aberdovey/Dyffryn/Harlech etc and losing the uniqueness it once had as Barmouth beach. Also the sand seems darker than it used to.

Interesting to wander near the harbour, and the little museum is a must (only open in an afternoon).

“Clean with beautiful sand”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

The beach around Barmouth is sandy and great for children, one end is flat and all sand but as you walk along the front it becomes more small sand dunes which serve as natural wind breaks when sitting amongst them. Dogs are not allowed on the flat part up near the harbour, there is a sign that states where you can exercise your dogs from, this is more towards and in amongst the dunes area, there are doggie bins along this area, and dog owners are encorouged to pick up after there animals.
The view from the beach is lovely and the whole area can get fairly busy at weekends, if the weather is fine.
