This was our second visit to the castle, and it is certainly the Warner Break with a difference. The castle grips you as you drive down the approach road...Majestic and impressive! You are immediately on holiday and captured!
As you pull up adjacent to Reception a host welcomes you, offers porter service and points out the ample parking options. Booking in is smooth and efficient, you are given a welcome pack and your room key(s) and told when your room will be available if not already.
The rooms are of a very high standard. We had a ground floor 'Signature' room (117) It had all you needed, large double bed with ample duvet and soft pillows. Table and armchairs, flat screen TV with lots of channels plus DVD player and a radio.there is small fridge which is useful and a good quality kettle with tea, coffee, milks & biscuits. The room lighting is good which helps if you like to read in the late evening or in bed. The en-suite bathroom had bath with overhead shower unit, good water pressure and very hot water, toiletries were provided and a magnifying mirror and hairdryer, plus a heated towel-rail. The towels were large & good thick quality. The wardrobe houses an electronic code type safe.
You are requested to visit the restaurant and are allocated your table for all meals.Dinner is part waiter service and self service buffet, a good combination.this applies to breakfast also. the quality of the food is simply "Excellent" nothing else to be said!
There is ample daytime activities, but the weather was cold and rainy which put paid to events such as Archery & Rifle shooting etc. However inside there were cookery demonstrations, quizzes and movie shows, plus snooker,table-tennis etc. There is a nice indoor swimming pool, steam room and spa pool.
The evening entertainment is very comprehensive, dancing, disco's,and stunning shows, variety and comedy. The entertainments manager is a true Pro, a bit like Ted Bovis out of Hi de Hi.
My only gripe is that, it was very cold and the heating in our room was a bit inadequate, just one radiator to heat quite a large room.
Warner's are very good value for money...not cheap but you certainly get what you pay for and the quality of their staff shines through.
