After travelling from Cardiff in the afternoon and visiting a restaurant nearby, we drove into the drive of Cefn y dre.I was recommended this B&B by a local Pembrokeshire resident but I wasn`t expecting a manorhouse. As we negotiated a gentle u turn and saw the frontal aspect of Cefn y dre- it was stunning in the early evening light.-I knew we had arrived- with a great dollop of luck on our side!
Daffodils and primroses graced the garden .We found the parking area with ease and knocked on the door.We were greeted by Geoff and after we disposed of our luggage to our rooms , we were invited for a cup of tea and coffee (our preference-we had `phoned them to tell them we had dined in Fishguard) Gaye popped in the sitting room for a welcoming chat and then we retired to our respentive rooms.
The home is delightful - it has been furnished with interesting Welsh paintings and furniture which suits the period of the house.
I kept looking round and wondered which rooms did Lloyd George enjoy? (his brother married the lady of the house in the early twentieth century.)
IWe enjoyed the breakfasts which offered such a variety -full welsh breakfast ; haddock; kippers to name but a few.
I noticed that Geoff and Gaye paid close attention to detail to make our stay special. We enjoyed our 2 night break. We are resolute that we will pay another visit next year.
My travelling companion will be writing his own review.
