Our second trip in the last 5 weeks to the Metropole HOtel. The staff are excellent and Amy was courteous and friendly on reception and ent out of her way to assist and as a result already booked a 3rd trip for two weeks time.
Firstly the current price of £99 for a 6 course tasting menu as well as an executive room, cannot be beaten.
I have ate at numerous Michelin restaurants and paid hefty prices for stays, but here the food was of good quality and decent sized portions at that. Felt the soup was outstanding as well as the chicken breast.
The choice of wines was of a good range and sensibly priced at that.
The gymnasium albeit a bit small had good treadmills and complemented by a nice pool and spa facilities.

If value for money you are looking for at sensible prices with a little luxury thrown in then you wont go far wrong with the Metropole.

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at the Metropole Feb 2012. Everything was just about perfect! The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, the spa facilities were excellent (especially the pool & jacuzzi) the food was incredible and the service in every department was first class. Can't really fault anything and considering we got a bargain price, courtesy of an online offer, it was superb value! LLandrindod Wells is a small, quiet, pretty town, which was nice for an overnight stay. Definitely recommended!

Don't be put off by the green exterior! We stayed for just one night. Check in and out was speedy despite people arriving in a steady flow. The executive room was perfect. Freshly refurbished, of an excellent size and a good sized bathroom with bath and shower. Comfortable bed.

The bar was pleasantly busy, but no waiting required for service. Dinner was the six course taste of Wales menu. Each course was a good size. Only criticism was that service was a bit quick. With such a substantial meal, a rest between courses would have been welcome. Coffee (extra0 was strong, as we like it. so rarely is that the case.

despite the number of people staying the buffet breakfast was smoothly served, and the hot food was fresh, not dried out. No standard requests (poached eggs) came quickly. Coffee was still strong with a good sized pot, no need to ask for more.

A very enjoyable half term break. We have not ruled out a return

On arrival, we had been allocated a twin disabled, instead of double. Having no more spare rooms, they sent us for complimentary drinks whilst they tied tge beds together, which was fine.
Only one lift was big enough for the wheelchair, but the facilities in the room were superb-one 'normal' bathroom and a disabled wetroom, which was massive!

We paid £99 for two, with a six course meal with champagne. This was beautifully presented and romantic being Valentines Day. They catered superbly for a gluten free diet and had alternatives for everything which was brilliant!

Then, all went wrong. We decided on a romantic breakfast in bed. Tucking into my toast, I thought how nice it was for gluten free, then looked closely (you can tell by the texture) it was clearly apparent I had eaten proper bread.
Management assured me it was gluten free, so I asked for more & showed him the difference. He didn't seem overly concerned at all, despite the fact I told him I would be ill & was for three days! Overall, it was such a shame to ruin a great break, with lovely staff. They just need to learn the severity of giving gluten to a coeliac!

We stayed in one of the newly refurbished top floor rooms, last easter time. (They have probably all been refurbed by now.) The room was very clean and absolutely lovely, with some stunning decor.. The staff were amazingly helpful, breakfast in bed was sublime (if a little on the pricey side.)
I can't draw much comparison on the Spa facilities as I'm not a regular spa- goer, but I would say that the facilities were well staffed and clean, with a nice jacuzzi and sauna. When we asked if we could carry a coffee from the bar up to our room, we were ushered into a nice fireside lounge and our drinks were carried out for us, with some delicious chocolates on the side. On Easter sunday we were given Easter eggs with our breakfast. The location was not all that exciting, but a good base for exploration. The disco left a little to be desired as well, but lets face it, who goes to a Spa hotel for the disco?
Cannot really fault the hotel, we had a lovely time.
