Yes it is more expensive than other places in town, but the food is excellent, I visit on average monthly and enjoy myself every time. We love sitting in the "goldfish bowl" at the front and watching the world go by. It is very clean and tidy and the staff very friendly and helpful.

We've lunched here a couple of times recently, both times on a Saturday. The menu seems interesting and varied with lots of talk about locally sourced ingredients but sadly although the food is OK it isn't anything special. It's also a bit pricey considering the quality of the food.

The brasserie itself is a nice place to eat and has a pleasant airy modern atmosphere with comfortable sitting areas but the service was very slow. It appeared to be understaffed for the number of people eating there on a busy Saturday lunchtime.

Having tried it twice and come away feeling slightly disappointed we probably won't go again.

We always meet here for a girl's lunch and catch-up, good food, nice people and friendly staff. Little bit pricey but well worth it - you get what you pay for. Spa is heavenly too.

We chose this on the recommendation of the B&B we were staying at. There is easy parking at the back of the hotel. The Bar and Brasserie have been nicely decorated and there is a pleasant atmosphere. The bar staff are friendly and helpful and the bar prices are good for a hotel. The food menu can be found online http://www.metropole.co.uk/dining/spencers-bar-brasserie/
The Welsh lamb was extremely good as was the grilled cod (special that day) and the service was attentive and timely. The biggest surprise was how cheap the bill was. It was the price of a pub meal for 2 with drinks yet much better quality.
I would definitely drop in and eat here again.

My wife and I were on our way to Stratford Upon Avon passing Mid Wales along the way. We stopped to rest for awhile and thought of having a meal before we move on to our long journey. We ended up in Llandrindod Wells and picked The Metropole Hotel. Nice, inviting, big, very green building. In the hotel there is a Brasserie called Spencer's Bar & Brasserie. The minute we entered the place we were greeted with a smile and warm welcome from a staff named Mikey. He served us our favorite cocktails which was best so far from all the cocktail bars we visited. Then we went in for a meal in the brasserie. Gabi who served us was very professional. Metropole hotel seems to be so lucky to have very good staff. The food in the brasserie was fantastic! The price is reasonable and the quality of the food is beyond our expectations. Thousand compliments to the chef. We asked Gabi and the chef's names are Raf and Rely. Hats off to the very good chefs of Spencer's Bar and Brasserie.

Just when we were about to leave, we caught the attention of the manager. Did not get his name as he was not wearing a name badge. He seemed very military but to our surprise he was a delight to talk to. He went on about his garden and his house. A very down to earth man. Well, all in all a very very nice experience. If ever we will pass by again in Wales we will surely would stop by again in Spencer's Bar & Brasserie.
