“Horrendous!”

Think the people writing the previous review must be the many relatives of the hotel management who were to be found around the lounge as there's just no way this hotel could be that good - couldn't get on a sofa for sleeping children and relatives. Was on a David Urquhart twixtmas break which in the past we've found to be wonderful - not on this occasion. Lights in corridors were out, lights in room were out, wardrobe doors hanging off, toilet handle came off every time you flushed - and that was just the room, but at least it was warm. Have never experienced such rude hotel staff - with the exception of the bar manager and the blonde waitress whose name escapes me. Don't even think about asking for the veg that is supposed to come with your meal (even though it's peas and carrots EVERY night) - you just get them flung into the middle of the table and scattered everywhere. Overheard a party of 5 in the dining room asking if it was possible to have a table set for 5 rather than being split up - after being told 'no', the guests asked if they could have the cutlery and set the table themselves if it was a help, to which they were told "if you don't sit down, you won't get anything"!! The food was appalling - soup like water, a spoonful of cottage pie which floated on a sea of gravy and don't think you'll get a cup of coffee with your meal. As previous review, breakfast was a joke - 2 toasters between 60!! And as with the previous review - how many pensioners love to sit in a freezing room with loud music blasting out! The only high point of this holiday was Bob the coach driver who was superb - friendly, amenable and an absolute pleasure to spend time with. Urquharts - please drop this hotel from your brochure, it makes us think twice about booking with you!!

Room Tip: Avoid at all costs!!!

Just returned from The Commodore Hotel and found it to be a great experience. The owners have been there just a short time and have worked miracles. They have turned the place into a warm, friendly and inviting place to stay. They are working hard to bring the place up to scratch. Our room was clean and comfortable with towels replaced daily. The food was excellent, as was the staff. Nothing was too much trouble. We booked in with some trepidation because of the negative comments but found them to be very far from the truth. Granted there are a few teething troubles but we had a fabulous stay and will definitely be coming back again.

Me and my husband have just been on a coach holiday to this hotel and it was just nightmare. They don't seem to want coach parties and make it so obvious to you. The staff are very rude. The meals were terrible. Chicken and Mushroom pie with out the pastry but yet it says on the website the chef is a great pasty chef. What a laugh. No imagination when comes to veg. Peas and carrots very night. The fruit salad doesn't take a lot of thinking about either. No cream. Someone asked for gravy and they were told we don't do gravy how long does it tae to make gravy I ask. It was just slopp on a plate. 4 Staff serving over 65 people, They just didn't want us there, Happy hours at the bar just forget it. the easiest thing in te restaurant was beakfast serve yourself. Only 2 toasters for all these people. wouldn't recomend ths to anyone. Won't be going there again. There advertising wedding what a laugh glad I wouldn't be mine. Nightmare.

The Officer i/c Household Duties and myself went to the Hotel Commodore in Llandrindod Wells for New Years Eve 2013.
What a fantastic Meal! Great choices, great service and a fantastic atmosphere.
We slept in one of the newly refurbished rooms which was excellent and well up yo a 4 star standard (and I know my hotels having managed them overseas and in the UK for more years than I care to remember).
Wild Mushroom Soup followed by a fantastic steak and a great dessert, plus a bottle of Crystal Champagne really made our night.
Even managed to get the body into dance mode.

Room Tip: When making your reservation ask for one of the newly refurbished rooms, they are doing all of the r...

Went on a twixmas with david urquhart. If it hadnt been for the company on this trip it would have been terrible. There was no one to take your bags to the room, old ladies on there own struggling with their luggage.Check in a nightmare, thrust with a menu for evening meal.with, everbody milling around with the luggage.
The meals were the very basic I have ever experianced on a coach trip, with peas & carrots the only vegitables for the 3 nights running.some imagination.Only 2 choices of main,no fish or salad choice for vegetarians.
On the last night they had a disco,in the ballroom,,yes a disco for senior citizens,,not one person was there. We all sat in the lounge out of the way where it was warm.
The decorating that had been done so far was fine and our room was warm and comfortable but needed refurbishing.Other people complained their rooms were very cold.
Good buffet breakfeast but tea and coffee cold every morning. Also couldnt believe this, only 2 toasters for at least 70 people. One with 4 slots but the other only had 2.so really toast wasnt an option unless you wanted to wait for ages.
The overall reaction of this hotel was that coach parties was not really wanted.
Has regards David Urquart travel they are good value for money.

Most depressing hotel stay I have ever had. Looks promising from the outside but once inside it all changes. Hotel staff have their personnel belongings all over the foyer, pet bowls on the floor, baby toys and bottles on couches, disgusting. Then you enter your room, the stuff of nightmares. I wasn't sure if the sheets were supposed to be yellow or white, stains on sheets, filthy bathroom and filthy carpet. In the evening all the hotel staff used the foyer and communal lounge as their personnel lounge to have a few evening drinks, not very welcoming Please stay away guys, I have no idea what the people who gave positives reviews were on.

Room Tip: Don't choose any, just go home

For years I've been staying at this hotel with work, and have witnessed how the establishment has fallen further and further into a sad and sorry state.

But since the new owners have moved in I have found a vast improvement in the standards of the lounges and rooms. This old lovely building needed a good kick up the backside, and this is what's slowly happening. I was shown the rooms which have been modernised and believe me there is a vast improvement. The staff are pleasant and very helpful, and I thought I'd never say this, but I'm looking forward to going back in Spring 2013, to see more of the alterations.

Well done the New Management!

Room Tip: Ask for the recently improved rooms.
