Six of us stayed here for 2 nights in late November as we were in town for the real ale ramble!
The property is plenty big enough for 8 though with a huge lounge and kitchen / diner downstairs. Upstairs are two double rooms, a room with two bunk beds and a bathroom. There is only one shower so you can’t hang around in the bathroom (there is an additional toilet downstairs though). Added bonuses are the log burner (get logs from the garage in town) and the hot tub which was great after a day’s walking in the snow!
The barn is located next to the river in its own field and imagine it would be a great place to be in the summer (ideal for 2 families with 2 kids each – we may be back!). You have to drive down a track and through a gate to get to the house but this is pretty easy (look on bing maps as it’s not on google maps!). If you want a short cut to town turn left once you are through the gate and cross the railway line – about 10 minutes’ walk – so an ideal location.
Llanwrtyd Wells has a couple of pubs serving ale (great band in the Stonecroft when we were there), a couple of restaurants and a café. Walks into the forestry areas were easily accessible and had a dusting of snow once above 300m – a winter wonderland!
Bernard was easily contacted by text message and for a group such as ours this place is great value for money, in a beautiful location and I would not hesitate to stay again!
Really lovely week, the house was perfect, WiFi would have been possibly my only upgrade! But overall the accommodation was ideal. Would suggest planning for a small drive to find nicer areas for days out but it wasn’t an issue. Make sure you have a 4x4 too as the driveway to the home was filled with puddles and holes.
Highly recommend staying here if you are looking to stay in the area!
7 girls aged from 13 to 81. Barn had the most comfortable lounge. And the hot tub was amazing. Beautiful stream at end of the garden. Beds comfortable. Only criticism no mirrors in bedrooms or anywhere to hang clothes. Only there for 3 nights so didn't matter. Would definitely go again
Well what can we say!
What an absolutely beautiful place! A group of friends, 4 adults, 4 kids and sheer perfection. With the incredibly hot fire in the living room that warmed the entire house, the incredibly hot fire outside toasting marshmallows, the river which the kids paddled and rowed in, the hot tub the kids wouldn't get out of, the completely equipped kitchen perfect for cooking a roast, the speakers in the ceiling to plug your phone into and play whatever you wish, the adjacent field perfect to play ball, the beautiful surrounding scenery whether rain or shine. Bernard, the Owner was only a phone call away if we had any queries. We can all honestly say, what a remarkable place. None of us wanted to leave. We will definitely be coming back and literally cannot wait to do so. Thank you so much for letting us share your home. Perfect relaxation to rewind and recharge, just what we all ordered! Thank you, thank you, thank you. :)
A stunning place to relax in nature.
We spent a beautiful weekend with a group of families enjoying the beautiful accommodation in a stunning location.
The hot tub overlooking the river is incredible and even though we had a day of heavy rain the barn has a perfect large covered outdoor space to enjoy the scenery!
Thanks so much for a perfect weekend in your beautiful barn!
Came for a weekend break with 7 friends aged between 22-30 for a girly weekend!
Had a great time. The house was everything we could have asked for.
Hot tub was fabulous.
Had great communication with Bernard the owner.
Local village is only a short walk with a couple of pubs and local amenities.
Stream lovely next to house.
Only problem we had were the nats at night whilst we were in the hot tub, however this is no ones fault as we were 'as one with nature'. My only tip for future visitors would be to take appropriate mosquito candles/bite cream. But this would not stop me visiting again!
Oh and only one mirror in the house was a slight issue when sharing with 6 other girls But again very minor.
