We have just spent a fabulous long weekend at this country house hotel. Roger and Emma made us feel very welcome. The attention to detail and friendliness was extraordinary. They helped us plan our days out in the beautiful surrounding countryside and we had lots of interesting chats. Roger is a fantastic chef and all of our meals were delicious. We shall certainly return!

Lanwrtyd Wells is fascinating but Roger and Emma make it home. Roger, a chef, cooks up fresh local produce and makes it into heavenly dishes. Emma hosts and cheers up the conversations. Lasswade's sitting room is filled with books and interesting tidbits about their life and the life of the house. We had three rooms. They were all clean, private, and cosy with great views of valleys. The soaps in the rooms are organic and fresh smelling. You can use the house as a base to tour about for horses, hill walking, rally driving, red kites, or the great summer events in the town. We only stayed two nights but I would happily spend a week. This is a great place to stay.

Room Tip: Stay in rooms on the back of the house. You will have unending views of the hills.

My husband and I recently spent three wonderfully relaxing days with Roger and Emma who made us really welcome. This place really is a home from home and the food was second to none! As keen walkers we adored the countryside and surrounding walks and would most definitely stay again.

Roger Stevens is a very good chef. He delighted us with a superb dinner starting with a medley of mushrooms, followed by duck, cooked to be succulent, followed by a very tasty dessert all washed down with a lovely bottle of red. Breakfast was delight of fresh, local ingredients, including some hand carved bacon, very tasty eggs.Roger used to be a mechanic in a motor racing team and it is his attention to quality and detail that shows up in all his dishes.Excellent ingrdients are orchestrated for maximum effect. The result is very satisfying. If you are in the area swerve over to Roger's and you will be delighted.

We had booked to stay at the Lasswade for two nights but owing to oversight by the management our room was double booked, so we only stayed for one night. The welcome was satisfactory. The room we felt looked a little tired with out of date decor, several pin holes in the walls, bath panelling loose and cobwebs at ceiling height in the bathroom. The toilet seat was of a very cheap type with the laminate cover peeling. The TV functioned poorly with little or no signal on most of the channels. At one point we could not get a signal on any channel. Only one bedside light was provided between the twin beds. The food for evening dinner was good but not exceptional. Breakfast again was fine but nothing exceptional, although the views from the breakfast room could not be faulted. We have stayed at other establishments in the locality which we feel offer much better value for money and a better experience.

My wife & I spent 4 nights at this establishment & were totally spoilt. The hospitality, bed linen, breakfasts & restaurant were well in excess of what you would expect. Remember that advert some years ago , 'the answer is yes, now what was is question'
that is the standard of care you will receive.

When you turn off the trunk road through the village to find the Lasswade its a little slummy and you wonder if you have slipped up. YOU HAVEN'T. Roger and Emma are perfect hosts and a fountain of knowledge for anyone who wants to listen or needs help with the area. If I wanted just to complain then I suppose there are a lot of stairs so you need to be fairly fit, and our room decor slightly tired although it was comfortable and the bathroom was really big with a choice of bath or shower. Those two minor points put aside then R and E are the perfect hosts nothing is too much trouble. The dining room is well presented and a pleasure to eat in. The breakfast room is in the conservatory with a terrific view over the fields and hills. I have left the best till last, Roger's culinary art is to die for. A highly trained chef who puts his knowledge of food and cooking on every plate. Regardless of the fact that you have dined well it is a shame when the meals come to an end.
Thank you both, we do like to try new areas all the time but I hope we make it back to Lasswade.
