Kilsby Country House

Our twelfth visit to this truly beautiful gem. Sue and Chris however don’t rest on their laurels and with each visit we see creative changes in the house, cottage and delightful garden – all designed to give their guests the best possible stay. This time a sycamore had been taken down allowing for uninterrupted views of the valley and little paths opened up for bird and butterfly viewing. The complimentary bara brith is as delicious as ever and Sue is now honing her Welsh cake skills. I just hope she’ll start to sell her bread because it is absolutely delicious! For fisherman, Chris is well qualified to recommend and advise and he shares his knowledge generously. For walkers, maps and guides are on hand. Attention to detail in the accommodation is second to none and as the visitors book attests everyone has the most magical stay at Kilsby. We discovered Kilsby in 2007: we have visited every year since, sometimes twice and once even three times! Here’s to the next one!

Room Tip: All quiet. The adjoining cottage is peaceful and very well appointed and for those who don't wa...

Our first impression of Kilsby was a beautiful house in a lovely location. On meeting Sue we knew we had landed on our feet. I could talk about the beds, the breakfast, the décor etc., but would soon run out of adjectives, so I will concentrate on the one feature which was most unusual - Chris and Sue must have spent a great deal of time thinking about what guests really wanted. Lots of little things that add up to comfort - the binoculars on the window sill; the torch on a shelf in the bedroom; the tempting selection of chocolate bars in a basket on the landing. I could go on, but I expect you get the idea.

Room Tip: Depends whether you prefer a bath or a shower.

My wife and I booked into Kilsby a few days ago for a one night "comfort" break from our campervan tour of Wales. Chris and Sue the owners were vry welcoming and charming.
The house is extremely comfortable and the bedroom with very large bed was clean and well appointed. Breakfst in the morning was cooked to a high standard and both meat and vegie options provided. Lovely house and hosts and no problem in recommending Kilsby to anyone.
Enjoy!

Room Tip: Go for the bathroom rather than the shower room with your bedroom

Back again for what is becoming an annual trip, the welcome was as warm as ever, it really is like visiting old friends!! Bonus this year was the weather, that's two years in a row!! We were able to sit out in the evening and watch the sun go down over the mountains. Bliss!! Couple this with the Kilsby breakfast and you're on to a winner!!

Kilsby House is lovely with outstanding views of the countryside and valley. Sue is a really lovely host who really looks after you. Our room was comfortable with everything we needed. Breakfast was exceptional and set you up for the day. Would highly recommend Kilsby House and if ever we were in the area again we would definitely love to stay again.

This is a delightful B&B in mid Wales with stunning views from the lovely garden.
Our room and bathroom was spotlessly clean and well appointed with very good quality bed linen, towels and bath robes.
We enjoyed an excellent breakfast ( including warm home made bread!) in the sunny breakfast room, prepared and served by our very welcoming hostess Sue.
It is a peaceful retreat for golfers, fishiermen and walkers and I would love to return for a longer stay.
Added extra touches? Wine glasses and corkscrew in the room, home made Bara Brith with the tea and coffee and a courtesy tray of goodies for the guests' convenience. Perfect!
