“Felt like home”
Reviewed 22 April 2014

Kilsby Country House is a lovely B&B in a perfect, quiet location with fantastic views. Sue and Chris (the owners) made us feel at home from the minute we arrived and took an excellent care of us during the whole stay. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious, clean and comfortable and the living room downstairs, available to the guests, is a huge plus. Breakfast is legendary with a wide selection of hot and cold meals, a perfect start of the day. Sue is very knowledgable and can recommend exciting trips, walks and activities in the area. A short, beautiful walk along the river will take you to town in 25 minutes where you can enjoy one of the pubs or restaurants for an evening meal or drink. If you are looking for a tranquil gataway where you will be woken up by the sound of birds and sheep or and a place to stay near the Brecon Beacons National Park, Kilsby Country House should be your top choice. Very family friendly and welcoming. I wouldn´t hesitate to go again or recommend to others.

Room Tip: Book the adjacent cottage if you prefer self-catering and more space in private; if staying in the h...

We booked at short notice and were very pleased that Sue had a vacancy for the B&B. We are keen walkers, natural history buffs and geocachers. The area had lots to offer for all of these activities. Kilsby offered a very cosy base to return to after a day in the hills. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed; we really felt at home.
Breakfasts were excellent and set us up for the day outdoors.
We will certainly be back for a repeat visit and may consider a longer stay in the cottage.
Thanks Sue for a most enjoyable stay.

Booked a room at Kilsby at about 20 mins notice for a colleague and myself when work plans put us in he village at a couple hours notice...
A few others weren't geared up for last minute arrivals but in the end we were glad...
Sue welcomed us to the property as soon as we arrived with a smile and introduction showed us our comfortable room and adjacent bathroom.
Use of a guest lounge was a huge bonus as well instead of being stuck in one room..
Breakfast..... wow!
Everything you'd want for breakfast was there and as two contractors we obviously went for the works.....didn't need to eat again until our evening meal in the local pub (Stonecroft.... really nice, friendly place).
Walking out in the morning we both just stopped and stared at the view of the valley (we arrived in the dark)..... cameras straight out and pictures/ video taken even on a damp January morning with the cloud coming over the hills ...... THAT VIEW WAS WALES!!! simply stunning

Found several other places in the village emailing vacancies trying to poach our custom for latter part of the week...
No chance... and we're going back this week again for another welcoming warm stay! 10/10

Room Tip: Seriously!!!..... you see that view outside you'll realise its where you want to be!! not sat in...

Over the years we exhibited at the Royal Welsh Show, we've used Kilsby House as our base. We rented the cottage beside Kilsby on a self catering basis from the owners Chris and Sue.

The location is fabulous for an out-of-the-way holiday with fantastic views, an incredible variety of bird life, and access to fresh-water fishing (Chris is a very keen fisherman and will keep you right).

Alas, our business has given up exhibiting at the Royal Welsh, so 2013 was our last visit to Kilsby. However as a reward for all the years it rained, this year the sun shone and made those views all the more spectacular. We won't forget sitting on the terrace drinking wine with our fabulous hosts.

We stayed for two nights last week and really enjoyed our stay. We were upgraded on arrival to the cottage which was nice although a bit of a trek to the bathroom at night. The cottage facilities are excellent with everything provided for a comfortable stay, Sue introduced herself and gave a good insight into the local area, she recommended a couple of pubs that are in the village and we tried one on the first night, the food was good but the pub decor needs bringing out of the 1950s. The area around Kilsby house is very rural and would suit anyone interested in country pursuits. We stayed there as it was fairly central to the locations we wished to visit but would suit just about any location. Overall we would like to stay again sometime in the future and would recommend this B&B to anyone looking for quality and character .

Our first trip abroad and first B & B adventure. Sue and Chris made us feel at home right away. They should write the book on operating a B B. They set the bar way up for the rest of our trip through the UK. The food was really good and the lunches where great. A very scenic and quiet location. We will always remember our great adventure to Wales

We have just returned again to Kilsby and our stay was perfect again. The Weather was excellent for September but it wouldn't matter what it is like the area is great whatever so many different things to do in the area from fishing to cycling. We go for the walking and the scenery. The welcome is always brilliant we feel like we have come home . The breakfasts were once again top class and set you up for the day you don't really need another big meal unless you really want one (the pubs in the village a short walk away can sort you out with an evening meal). We booked for next year while there so Sue we will be back. lol
