“Just Home from Home...”

This was my third visit and all the main staples of a warm welcome, friendly attentive staff, great food and a good night's sleep were present so very little disappointed me, my mother or our well-travelled discerning Labrador. Special mention must go to the wonderful Chef at Caer Beris Manor who cares enough not only to pop out and personally check you're genuinely happy with your meal but looks you straight in the eye at the same time. Top marks too for the buffet breakfast which set me up beautifully for the 6 mile Medieval Monks' Trod I undertook that morning in the Elan Valley. We'll be back.

Room Tip: The bed in Room 24 has a firm mattress and the room is quietly situated at the far end of the hotel...

we had a lovely relaxed weekend at caer beris, thankyou to katharine and peter, matt the chef, daffyd and all other staff for how hard they work to make the place special.
the grounds and food vie for top spot on our reasons to go back as soon as possible. And bring our dog as caer beris is very dog friendly and we felt guilty exploring the gorgeous surroundings without him!
the food deserves a special mention and chef matt and his colleagues obviously take real pride in their work. the menus were creative and full of choice, and lots of lovely touches like homemade rolls, clever presentation and attentive waiting staff meant we looked forward to having dinner there again our second night. matt was always present in the restaurant to check everyone was enjoying their meal. and the shortbread in reception was a welcome touch! yum.
the bar area was cosy and comfortable.
our room was ground floor, comfy bed, new bathroom. only tiny improvement i could suggest would be a little more attention to cleaning edges and corners in bedroom and bathroom, hot choc sachets, and in room 22, perhaps new flooring... however i know the owners are making constant improvements and the above were small niggles.
also worth a mention, i enjoyed a lovely facial and hubby had fun clay pigeon shooting (or missing!)
Thanks again to the hard working staff and will hopefully be back soon

The hotel is located in acres of beautiful grounds and the staff are really friendly and helpful. We had a large room with a king size bed. The room was a little cold (in March) but there was a heater available. In the summer it would be a great place to stay and to sit outside on the terrace.

We ate in the restaurant and although it wasn't cheap the food was delicious and the chef came to talk to us and helped with some special dietary needs.

It is very rare today that a hotel goes way beyond your expectations. Staying at this hotel did.
From the moment you check in the friendliness of staff is amazing, they really care about their guests. The Hotel is in a fantastic setting with spectacular views of the river in 27 acres of parkland. The conservatory has great riverside views too. The rope type bridge in the grounds reminds me of the film Indiana Jones but not the crocodiles!
The oak panelling in the restaurant is magnificent and around the walls are the crests of the Swansea family. The evening meal was excellent and presentation superb. The chef came round several times to check that everything was all right. Breakfast too was great.
We took part in clay pigeon shooting which was part of the deal which was very exciting and for novices we thoroughly enjoyed.
This hotel has very high standards and a great place to stay. Go there you will be amazed that there are still hotels that give the ‘wow’ factor

This hotel is in a delightful location and situation. It is clear that much effort is being expended on keeping the fabric of the hotel, it's rooms and gardens in good condition, (though some difficult to reach windows seemed in need of a clean. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and nothing is too much bother for them. The rooms vary, but ours was spacious and well kept, and good value for money on the current package. The lounge and log fire are great. Our experience in the restaurant was very mixed. Stale bread with dinner, little fresh fruit, but lots of tinned fruit, and lack of attention to the temperature of food at breakfast were examples. On the other hand, some dishes were good and the wine list is very affordable. There was sometimes an unpleasant cooking smell in the reception area.

Room Tip: Try to afford a feature room - not above the lounge, restaurant or kitchen.

Last minute deal we didn't expect much but the experience exceeded our expectations by a long way. Dogs allowed into main hotel which felt weird for us, a bit like smoking indoors! The owner even gave us a bigger room when she realised we had 2 . I had read that th staff were helpful, not disappointed there either. Beautiful setting. Decor needs updating in places but for us that made it more relaxed.Dinner was lovely as was breakfast. My husband rarely raves but has told everyone about his wonderful weekend.

Myself and my wife stopped at the Caer Beris Manor on a two night dinner , bed and breakfast deal this week. The premises are a lovely manor house tucked away down a long drive with log fires in the lounge , a clean, warm and comfortable bedroom and the food for the most part excellent .
Having stopped in many hotels in various parts of the world I doubt whether we have ever experienced a more helpful and courteous welcome and service from the owners and their staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them including their advice about local places to visit and walks that begin and end at the hotel.
Overall we had a really fun and memorable stay and will definitely return.
