Fantastic old world charm and character with exceptional service. Room was comfortable and clean and the surroundings were amazing. I stayed on business but would certainly return for pleasure/holiday. Great selection of scotches!

We were in Wales for a week to see some of my wife's family and this is one of three hotels which we stayed in during the week. It was unfortunately the poorest of the three.

The grounds are nice, well kept and the hotel is within walking distance of the of the town. The staff were very friendly and we stayed for dinner for one of the two nights and the food was good, no complaints.

The public areas of the hotel are well kept but where the hotel lets itself down is the hotel rooms and to a lesser extent even the corridors to the rooms. We had a room on the ground floor and perhaps the hotel is planning a refurbishment of the rooms but our room was relatively basic and a bit tired.

I left with the feeling that the hotel was a bit pricey for the room that we had.

An amazing half timbered oak framed building just ourside the town. Great room, basic facilities in the room but that seemed irrelevant. Charity box for internet, I liked that. Stunning grounds, best fish dish I have eaten for some time. I really liked it. on the down side breakafast seemed a bit chaotic with the chef arriving at 0800, a bit late for an early start and a poor bottle of wine. ( A shall I send this back or not standard) I would stay again, although an interstetingly creepy place.

Went walking in the Brecon Beacons with a group of friends and stayed here for the night.

It’s a lovely old hotel in beautiful grounds right next to a river.

Can’t fault it really.

We recently had a most delightful break at the Caer Beris Manor Hotel. We were able to visit so many interesting places in the area - a lovely drive around the Dams in the Elan Valley was truly spectacular; a tasty lunch in the sunshine looking towards the Brecon Beacons; a visit to the amazing book shops at Hay-on-Wye, not forgetting the most enjoyable time spent at the Craft Centre on the way back to the hotel. There were still many trips we would like to have had time to pursue - we shall be back. Each day we looked forward to returning to the hotel for a nice tray of tea brought to us in the lounge, a quiet spell for reading and time to prepare for the evening.

After pre-dinner drinks in front of the log fire in the lounge bar, dinner was served in such a restful atmosphere by most friendly and attentive staff. Even the chef walked round to see if everyone was satisfied with the various dishes, chosen from a fairly extensive menu and all of which were very appetizing. After a quiet drink of tea or coffee, taken in the lounge, we were quite ready to retire to our bedrooms, which were warm, comfortable, well-equipped and very attractive. One could settle down to a peaceful night's sleep looking forward to the delicious breakfast which we knew would be brought to us in the dining room the next morning.

The 27-acre grounds are a dream for the able, and a beautiful and interesting sight for the less able. The whole atmosphere is so relaxing and friendly - perfect.

The building is really impressive as you drive up the long drive. The river Wye winds its way through the well kept grounds. Very welcoming staff but our 2 main compliants were that our bedroom and bathroom were freezing. The heating came on late afternoon but didn't really do much to heat the room and the bathroom had no form of heating what so ever. We decided to eat in the restaurant as the choice of other pubs / restaurants was not great in the surrounding area. What the menu offered the food did not deliver. The soup was watery and tasteless and the main courses and dessert were very overpriced for what you got - £4.95 for 3 scoops of cheap ice cream! All in all a pleasant weekend in some beautiful countryside but wouldn't rush back to Caer Beris, however having read the other reviews maybe we just picked the wrong weekend.
