“A beautiful house in a beautiful place”
Reviewed 28 May 2018 for a stay in May 2018

My friends and I recently stayed in this amazing house on a joint hen/stag weekend. There were 14 of us in total, and the house was perfect for us. The house itself is very spacious with some beautifully decorated rooms. The weather was amazing for our visit and therefore we were able to enjoy the stunning gardens leading down to the stream and river. It felt lovely and secluded and really felt like our home for the weekend.

Jo was a great host, with excellent communication and advice prior to the weekend. She gave a very helpful tour when we arrived and we knew she was on hand if we had any issues during the stay.

There's lots to do in the area, with a lovely short walk/running loop from the house. We also enjoyed mountain boarding not too far away.

Overall we had an amazing weekend in the nicest accommodation we have stayed in as a group. Thanks very much!!

Thank you! That is great to hear. We may be biased but we do tend to agree that Abernant is a very special place to stay with friends and family.
It was a pleasure to have you stay with us...and to have our first joint hen/stag weekend.

“Lovely, peaceful break, beautiful house”
Reviewed 12 May 2017 for a stay in April 2017

We were a large party of friends wanting a quiet weekend to relax and explore the Brecon Beacons.Jo was really welcoming and had great local knowledge and useful recommendations. We arrived to a delicious home-made cake! Abernant House was really spacious and comfortable and plenty big enough for 10 of us. The gardens are absolutely stunning and we would all thoroughly recommend this property.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us how much you enjoyed your stay at Abernant House. We do count ourselves very lucky to be where we are ....close to the Beacons, Hay on Wye and adjacent to the River Wye. We hope to see you again some time.

Its difficult to know where to start with Abernant as the house has so many amazing features to talk about.
We were looking for the perfect party house and weekend retreat for a 3 generation 40th birthday party and Abernant seemed to it the bill perfectly.
Firstly, the booking process was absolutely seamless and Jo answered every single question and pre-empted a few more before they had even been asked, providing loads of advice and information about the house and the activities available.
On arrival, we were met at the house by Jo, a lovely lemon cake, 2 dozen double yoke eggs and lovely bunch of flowers and even a card for the birthday girl.
after a quick 20 minute tour of the whole house along wth an explanation of the history of all the rooms, we were left alone to enjoy all that the house had to offer.
Each of the living areas is fantastic in its own way, from the wooden panelled tv snug to the fantastic kitchen with a huge AGA and the massive oak table, the library with a fascinating and eclectic mix of books, the dining room with its hand painted Chinese wallpaper to the nicest room, the drawing room with its open fireplace, comfortable sofas and the grand piano.
The artefacts and antiques from the owners Grandfather, Lord Caccia, were enough to keep the history buffs happy for hours on end, not to mention the huge collection of sheet music for the piano.
Sadly, the weather wasn't great, but the kids still spent most of the Saturday in the huge garden, playing under the tree and on the rope swing.
The bedrooms were all nicely furnished and proportioned with the beds being really comfortable, with a good mix of rooms to allow young kids to stay with their parents or to be independent if they wanted.
Some of the rooms were stunning with balconies and amazing views over the surrounding countryside
A couple of the rooms had ensuite bathrooms and there were at least another 2 bathrooms , to be honest, I lost count.
There were only 2 showers though, but to be honest this didn't seem to be an issue either and certainly no one complained about it.
All in all, one of the nicest weekends we've ever had as a large family group and would love to return again; thanks Jo, for making us all so welcome!

Oh, I am so very, very pleased that you had such a wonderful weekend. It was an absolute pleasure to have you stay with us and to hear that you appreciated just how special and wonderful Abernant is. As I always say, we are not your normal 'run of the mil' holiday accommodation.
I must also give you my thanks for leaving the house so very clean and tidy. My cleaning team always do a little dance when they find that all the beds have been stripped!
Mind you, we have been known to do little dances just because Abernant is such a lovely place to be.
I do hope that you will be able to come back and have another fabulous break with us....and we will do our best to arrange great weather!
(On an aside we have one ensuite and another 4 bathrooms, two with large showers. Plus two of the bedrooms have enclosed sinks.))

Highly recommend a stay in Abernent, Jo was so helpful and flexible to last minute changes! The house is warm and friendly and you instantly feel at home, all the rooms are comfortable and spacious, we even managed to do some Scottish reeling in kitchen! You definitely want to bring a piano player you, as they have the most gorgeous piano! Thank you again for our wonderful stay.

“Truly amazing”
Reviewed 14 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

We stayed in Abernant House for 3 nights, 3-6th Oct, for my son's small wedding celebration (only 12 people).
What I want to say is just - WOW!
Such a fantastic place, secluded beauty, amazingly cosy house, full of history and charms. We felt privileged to have a chance to live there for the short time.
The weather was sunny and warm. The garden was perfect and it made our time in Abernant truly exceptional!
Special thank you to Jo. She was such a wonderful host and made us feel so welcome and paid attention to everything from all the little details to tastefully decorating the rooms .
Shaun was our chef. He was terrific!
Thank you very much.
