“Disappointed”
Reviewed 12 April 2014

The title and location of the hotel may fool you into thinking you're in for a treat - I felt the need to write this, not to intentionally put people off, but to help you make an informed decision. The room we stayed in was the smallest we've come across, with what I think was a small double bed. The en suite was clean and tidy but had yellowing plastic boards around the bath were you would expect tiles. The pool was so bad I couldn't bring myself to go in. I don't know exactely what it was but instead of tiles it had a bagging rubber sheet clipped from the walls of the pool to the bottom. It was also stained on the plastic steps into the water. The steam room and sauna were Ok - they did the job. The changing rooms were worse than you would find in a leisure centre. The photograph of the front of the hotel is about the only attractive part of the building, walk around the side and you'll find what looks like a 70's-80's extension with all expense spared. The breakfast was fine and the staff were helpful. If you're simply looking for somewhere to rest your head, it's probably Ok (but I suspect you'd be better staying in a B&B). Considering we have stayed in stunning hotels for similar cost, we certainly won't be going back unless there is significant refurbishments. A genuine disappointment because it could be a fabulous hotel.

Just spent two nights here with an excellent deal for dinner, bed and breakfast and afternoon tea. The service was second to none with a very friendly staff, great well presented food and a beautiful room overlooking the valley below.
Excellent base for a couple of days walking and extremely good value for money.
We will definitely be coming back.

Stayed just one night on a Monday.
the staff were very friendy and helpful nothing was to much trouble.
The food was devine, the best we have had so far, as we have stayed in a good few places in and around this area over the last few months.
Room was fine bearing in mind it is a very old building.
Nice relaxing place to chill out for the evening, fantastic views.
overall great value for money.
hope to return very soon.

The hotel is very nice to stay for a night or 2. The hotel has some good points:
+ reliable free WiFi
+ good size car park
+ nice outside patio
+ bar with comfortable sofas
+ decent size hotel with lobby and restaurant
+ 10min walk to the village

The food was good in the restaurant but a bit disappointing for breakfast. Small choice and not freshly prepared (scramble egg dry and not fresh). It is a shame because some of the choices were good, like jams.

The room was ok but may need some redecoration.

The bedroom we had was comfortable and spacious. The staff went that extra mile and were friendly and helpful at all times. We had a fantastic afternoon tea, evening meal and breakfast at the hotel. The only notes for improvement would be to look at the pressure and temperature of the shower in the rooms and the spa facilities although lovely to have were a little rough around the edges. However we really enjoyed our stay and the option of using the spa facilities was an added luxury. The location is brilliant, we walked into the village for a drink and it only took between 10-15 minutes at a steady pace.

Great view from my corner room in the hotel. Excellent facilities with a pleasant restaurant. Hotel had a pleasant restaurant with a good selection of food. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Massive bed in my room. The only criticism I would have is that the shower took a while to get hot.

Room Tip: My room was on a corner and gave you a great view over the mountains. Snow on them in the morning se...
