“Sunday night treat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

We arrived in Crickhowell on a early Sunday evening, and having been to the Bear for dinner previously were hoping they would be open for dinner. They were, and we, and all the other diners of which their were many (the place was heaving) had made the right choice, we indulged in dinner (mostly the Welsh Lamb shanks) which were fabulous, beautifully cooked, with meat falling off the bone, accompanied with fresh vegetables and mash, all perfectly cooked and piping hot. And pudding was just too good to resist, we all had different things, Tiramisu, Carrot cake, Chocolate Brownie and Clotted Cream Rice pudding, and shared tastes around the table. Feeling properly full and very happy, we left but will definitely return.

“Incredible”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

When we stayed in the Bear Hotel we was expecting normal pub food, on our first night we had food in the pub and I had duck with red wine sauce and vegetables and I go to say it was delicious!!!

Hotel: it is a overly clean room with Victorian features!

I have stayed at the Bear at least 10 times and I have never been disappointed! Defiantly the best food I have ever had!!

“Lovely hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 May 2014 via mobile

We stayed at The Crown when we attended a local family wedding.
Our room was large and well appointed.
On the Friday night we ate in the hotel restaurant - food was excellent! Worth a visit even if you don't stay at the hotel!

Breakfast - again very high standard! Friendly staff and good choices.

We spent two nights there and could not fault the hotel or location.

“Perfect hotel”

We loved our night here. We were upgraded which was a nice surprise. Great room. Great service. Good supper menu. Couldn't be better. Good value for money. A Welsh gem. Can't wait for a return visit.

“A charming old hotel with good good and fantastic beer”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 May 2014 via mobile

We loved our own night here. The room wasn't the most up to date of rooms but I'd never expect that in a hotel like this. The bed was comfy (if very soft), there was a bath in the bathroom and the floorboards didn't squeak too much when people walked by during the night.

The beer that they had on tap was superb! We tried all four and absolutely loved three of them, which is a rare experience! The food was decent and the staff lovely.
