Cabanas La Loma

There are two cabins. The larger one (assigned to our friends) is great. The smaller one (the one we took) has no dinning room, it has a small piece of wood overlooking the wall with four benches and the bathroom has no bathtub.
But the main issue we had is that the owner claimed to have informed us that the service did not include the making of the beds, were no e.mail exchanged said so and the web page did not informed that either. Our complaints with the owner were not heard.Make everything clear when making the reservation.

Room Tip: Choose the larger cabin

My family of four stayed in the larger of the cabins. We had two bedrooms, a bath and a kitchen/dining area. It was a perfect size for four, but it does accomodate six people. Everything was comfortable and well maintained. It was wonderful to have our own space and the ability to cook our own meals. There is a small grocery store a block away, but if you can, I would bring staples from El Calafate. This cabin does share a wall with the cabin next door, but unlike most of Argentina, the walls were made especially thick and we never heard the 7am wake up of the two toddlers next to us. The location of the cabins is on the edge of town, so it is quite peaceful. The owner, Ester, was incredibly kind and accommodating. She does not speak much English, but she is so open that communication is no problem. Our main reason for visiting El Chalten was to hike and it was a perfect place for doing that. The village has an amazing setting. There are some very good restaurants, including a brewery and an amazing chocolate shop. I would visit this town and stay in this lodging again in a heartbeat!

Great location, very friendly people, near everything you need!!it right at the heart of the town...
the owner lives behind the cabins which makes it useful should you need anything. Very tidy place and you can cook you own food and whatch DVD! (they hire them though) Ask if you are traveling with pets or kids!
Great value for money...

We were in El Chalten in November, and spent 4 nights in Cabanas La Loma. The owners only have two cabins, but they built them with such attention to detail! We drove to El Chalten and visited several cabins before finding this little gem. It costs like the others, but it's much better! Our cabin had two bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a spacious bathroom and a dining area. What was nice about it is that it was very carefully decorated, with great woodwork details around the windows and good quality furniture. Linens were new and the cabin was just spotless. The owner (Walter) was very kind, he gave us tips for our hikes, and one day he drove us to the Hosteria del Pilar so we could do a trail without having to return to our car.
El Chalten is a nice little village, some say it's growing too fast, and in fact it has a few big hotels that really spoil the atmosphere. Our little cabin had all the comforts, and it fitted perfectly in the small village style!
