We stayed on the estancia for two night and loved it there. Alfredo is an amazing host: welcoming, charming, helpful - not to mention his great sense of humor.

The estancia is located about 45 minutes walking from the town center of El Chalten; there are free shuttles in the morning and evening and taxis during the day. There is also a more scenic walk of about an hour or 90 minutes to town.

The estancia used to be one of the first sheep farms in the region, and now mostly breeds cattle, which means that you will always find animals nearby, and get a bit of the original Patagonia feeling while benefitting from the comfort the hotel offers.

Breakfast is great and abundant, and the lynch boxes sold are also delicious. The restaurant is decent, but for those staying multiple nights I would recommend to enjoy some other places in the town center at night.

As a couple we loved it here!! The staff and owners are very friendly and helpful. The location is set out a bit from town, but you can walk there via a lovely trail over the hills behind the Estancia. We loved that it wasn't right in town. The breakfast was amazing, and the dinner they served on-site was also very good. They offered two free shuttles during the day to various hiking spots or to town. They would also accommodate you at different times for a small fee. They really went out of their way to make your stay enjoyable and easy. I would recommend this place to anyone. Great deal for the price!!

Had a perfect stay at La Quinta, could be taken as an example of hospitality excellence. Gorgeous settings, comfortable rooms, great common areas and lovely staff always ready to assist with a smile (of the genuine kind).
The only drawback is to be a bit dependent of the car, which I did not have, but the Estancia supplies a daily service to/from the town and an in-house restaurant for dinner which is a good option.
Loved the daily "Historic tours" which enabled me to learn a bit more about local culture and life, as well as the introductory "Mate ceremony", or how to prepare and drink the ubiquitous Argentinian tea.

Estancia La Quinta was the best place we stayed in our recent two-week trip to Argentina and Brazil! The rooms are welcoming and comfortable with nice bathrooms, great beds and pretty views. We felt snug and warm while the Patagonian wind was howling outside!

The family is very friendly and accommodating, sharing the history of the estancia, the rituals of matte and great advice and recommendations for the local area. The steaks in the restaurant are really good, as was the corn soup.

Overall, a really good experience.

We stayed at the Estancia La Quinta for 2 nights and felt it truly enhanced our visit to El Chalten. The estancia as a whole is a very charming place, and our 2 year old daughter loved the animals roaming about. We also liked that it was outside of town (and chose it for that reason) because we were seeking that feeling of being remote. The views all around were spectacular. The rooms were clean and comfortable (though slightly reminiscent of the 80's), the breakfasts were okay (lots of choices of pastries, hardboiled eggs, ham, cheese, yogurts, cereal). We had our own car so it was easy getting into town. I can see how it would be challenging to get into town if you had to rely on taxi or their shuttle service. We ate dinner at their restaurant one night and had some of the best steaks in our lives (they told us the beef was from the cattle that they raise, I hope it's true...). All in all, a wonderful stay and wholeheartedly recommend. The only nits I would have is that we wish they would pave the driveway (very bumpy gravel for about 1.5 miles) so that we weren't constantly worried about blowing a tire and real OJ at breakfast (instead of the fake OJ). Also the folks at the front desk didn't really have very useful info about restaurants in town.

Great place a few km outside of town. Great view of the countryside with cows, horses, and dogs wandering around the property. You can even feed the calf in the evening. Service was terrific; all employees were nice and helpful. Breakfast was good. Location was nice for us because we had a car and wanted to be in a more quiet area than in town. However, if you don't have a car, the the owner will shuttle you into town and pick you up if necessary. We were woken up a couple of nights by cows or dogs, closing the windows helped. Rooms were clean and had a fridge and safe. Restaurant for dinner was just OK, I would recommend eating in town instead.

We enjoyed our stay and the use of the grounds as there was a nice hike up the back hill that afforded great views of Fitz Roy. Out front of the estancia is another walk that takes you to where you can see Lake Viedma. And there are friendly cows and dogs around which is endearing. We partook of the free mate ceremony course and the tour of the old house out back-enjoyed both but neither is a "must do." My impression of the estancia got better the longer we were there and I ended up really liking it. I will say that there was too much of a perfume (cleaner?) smell in the air that, had my mother been there, would've given her a splitting headache. The room was a little too purple/red for my taste but the overall experience was positive and I'd stay again.
