“Great overview of history”
Reviewed 29 November 2013

Although this is a small museum, it give important information about the surrounding area and history of the island. It provides a lot of theories about the people that once lived on the island and presents with some interesting artifacts. There is also a research library on the property. I would recommend seeing this first prior to seeing the statues and national parks.

“Small but interesting”
Reviewed 14 November 2013

It´s near Tahai complex, it´s not a big museum but there are good pieces exposed and panels with pictures explaning all about Rapa Nui civilization and the island.
Only US$ 2 fee and you will have a better understand before or after exploring the island in tours or by yourself.

“Should be your first stop on Easter Island”
Reviewed 8 July 2013

Head here first and then afterwards go down to the sea to see Ahu Tahai. Small but it explains a lot about the theories and has some interesting exhibits. You can walk from town in maybe 15 minutes.

“Be sure to visit”
Reviewed 21 May 2013

It really is an excellent museum, actually more of an interpretation centre, and I would recommend you visit it on your first day. They've tried to provide various theories in an unbiased manner so you can form your own opinion on how the statues were moved etc. It's not easy to find a long walk out of town, so make sure you ask for directions before you go and also note that they close at 12.30 on a Saturday.
