We stayed her for 3 nights in March. The nights were hot and the air con was welcome and necessary. We would have preferred to sleep with the windows open but the insect screens had holes in them and we would have been eaten alive by biting insects at night! The mattresses and the bathroom were tired. The breakfast was fairly ordinary. For the tropics, where you can grow most anything, I am sure there is a market for a entrepreneurial person to provide some nicer fresher local produce! We found the coffee here, as everywhere in South America, disappointing. However, the hotel is located very conveniently, within walking distance to the town centre and many places to eat. The tropical gardens were relaxing. The laundry service was a little slow, but we did get it done-'Island time"! Most people visiting the island are here for the daytime attractions, so the hotel is really only a place o sleep at night.

Spent three nights at the Otai, and was very pleased with the services provided, as well as the convenient location. Owner was very friendly and made good suggestions for restaurant facilities (loved overlooking the ocean and watching the sunset); arranged excellent tours.

The Otai is well located, just a few minutes walk to the main street. (There are restaurants on the same block, and a six minute walk brings you to the corner of the soccer field, which has an open-walled restaurant that serves delicious and filling fried tuna and cheese emapanadas for under eight dollars.) the Otai breakfast is good, but not great. The coffee was bland. The gardens were well kept and lovely to walk through. The room was large. No TV, but is wasn't missed. Only problem I had was when we were checking out, I asked for a one hour extension and was told, "Of course. It will cost and extra $60. Is that okay?" I told the receptionist is was not okay, and we left at the posted check-out time of 10 a.m.

I stayed here for three nights while visiting Easter Island. Given where I was, I didn't spend too much time in the hotel but it was everything you need for a visit to Easter Island. Clean, good location, very good breakfast each morning. The grounds are also very nicely landscaped and the pool is a nice touch. I would definitely recommend this spot. The rooms aren't fancy, but they are clean and the showers get nice and hot so that's really all you need while visiting such an amazing place!

We had the pleasure of staying at the O'tai hotel for 5 days. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with tropical flowers and fruit trees. The owner really takes pride in the appearence of the grounds. The rooms are comfortable and the AC works, nothing fancy but we came for the Moai not a resort experience. The pool is very relaxing and perfect for having a beer at the end of the day. The location is what gives this hotel a very good rating - it is fantastic - you are 2 minutes from the ocean and 2 minutes from the main shopping strip to buy water, beer, knick-knacks etc....
Overall this is a great place to stay young or old.

Location was great, yes. We were only a couple of minutes away from the harbor and all the restaurants (which were closed most of the time). But this place is in dire need of updating. The beds were comfortable but on rollers so you weren't quite sure where you'd end up in the morning. The room was large but very bare, and they had a serious cockroach problem. Everything looks like it's been stuck in the 80s, with, most likely, minimal repair since then. Breakfast was.... well, I wouldn't call it breakfast, but it was necessary we ate since we didn't know if we could get lunch or dinner anywhere - it was toward the end of the tourist season (nevermind there was a daily plane arriving full of people) and restaurants would just decide to close without any warning. What irked me was they tried charging us $10 for WiFi. Granted it was nice to be disconnected for 4 whole days, but if there was an emergency, well, then you were out of luck! and the internet cafes has nothing but dial-up.
The hotel served it's purpose, but considering the rates one would expect a bit more effort.

We had a choice of this hotel or the more pricey all inclusive on the other side of town. We opted for the Otai because we wanted to venture out on our own. This turned out to be a great spot. The rooms are basic which is fine, but also included air conditioning just in case. The location is just up the street from the small harbor which has several good restaurants to choose from. Up the hill is a really great church that you must visit. Half a block up and then right is the main street which offers more shops and restaurants. There's a store in town so you can load up on snacks and drinks. The grounds are beautiful and most rooms are set back from the street so you really feel secluded.
