I travelled in SA for 8weeks. Everything was planned and arranged, at least at 4 stars sevice. The Easter Islands was the last destination. For some reason, I thought it would be a safe and peaceful place. So I did not arraged anything in advance except making reservation at Lucia's place.
No one picked me up at the airport, but a hotel owner gave me a ride. I am grateful. It is impossible to find such kindness in NYC, London.etc.
Lucia was not home but I met Mahina, which is such a wonderful person. The best part started from there......I am honored to have her taking me around the island and to hear stories about this fascinating place first hand information.........
....the room was not at my expectation. However, Mahina, Lucia and her family made me feel at home.
Running in the dark under starry sky was awesome. The rooster did great job as a wake up call. Lucia's dog was friendly. Lucia's husband catched the fishes for our dinner. What else should I expect..
I also went with Lucia to buy bread for breakfast and to send her cute son to school.
Going to Sunday church was cheerful and pleasant. Having lunch at a house situated right behind the famous 13 Ahu on Mother's Day was great. I enjoyed the well prepared foods while listening to beautiful Rapa Nui's conversations......although I did not understand. The marinated tuna and grilled chicken was so delicious.
Lucia also gave me an Ahu chocolate and a hand printed table cloth.
One thing that I missed and will make it some day.....is riding a horse to the airport, with Mahina.
I am grateful to have a chance to visit such place and to get to know them all.
