“Life Unplugged”
Reviewed 26 February 2007

Lalati is a beautiful resort on a completley undisturbed island. Wonderful staff, incredible food (rack of lamb was my favorite, however the seafood was also great). No shortage of great eats.

From diving (wow), kayaking, hiking, lounging at the pool and the massages at the spa... fantastic honeymoon for us. The very best however, goes to the staff. They know your name, and you know theirs. Incredible service.

Only drawbacks: our bed wasn't as comfortable as we would have liked (it was okay) and no sand beach in SE Fiji. The trade off though is that this is where the most beautiful soft coral is, so if you dive - here is your place.

If you want "unplugged" (no phone, tv, etc) and enjoy truly getting away from it all and experiences a different world - this is it. Awesome! If you want to "walk to town" and have bars/restaurants, tv's, etc - not your place.

Thank you Lalati for an unforgettable experience.

We were married at the Lalati Resort & Spa it was the best decision we could have made.

Even before we arrived half way around the world, Jayne answered our questions via e-mail and put all our concerns to rest. She even had rose pedals sprinkled on the floor of our bure while a chilled bottle of Champagne waited to be corked.

We arrived on December 26 and were married on the 28th.

Before we were betrothed we enjoyed relaxing by the pool, snorkeling among the coral reef near the resort, and pampered by Filo and her staff at the world class spa. Meals were fresh, delicious, and craved. We enjoyed the set times for meals since we could plan our days accordingly without fear of missing one of Beato’s culinary creations. When we desired intimate dinner we were served on the veranda of our bure.

Clint, Jayne, Beato, and Viva coordinated a symphony of staff to make our wedding memorable, special, and picturesque. Beato, the resort manager, was up at 2:00 AM the day of our wedding marking the tide line with palm frawns and at 2:30 he was baking a tri-level cake for our wedding celebration. Despite five other couples staying at the resort the staff seemed to know our names and made us feel extra special.

Prior to our wedding the staff calmly transformed the resort with banana leaves, vibrant flowers, and removed precarious coconuts from the paths of traveled walkways. Jayne snapped photos of us before, during, and after the event and presented us with a DVD of our wedding with captions, music, and awesome pictures.

If you are looking for a wedge of paradise where you can see native fire-walkers traverse flaming stones, swim among ancient coral and colorful fish, eat delicious food, relax at the spa, and be surrounded by people who genuinely care about your happiness then Lalati Resort & Spa is the place to be. Thank you Jayne, Clint, Beato, Viva, Filo and the rest of the staff for a truly memorable experience and thank you Linda at South Seas Adventures for putting it all together for us.

We had our honeymoon here and it was amazing! The food was absolutely top notch. I mean, 5-star restaurant quality! The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The pace is so relaxing that you will forget what day it is.
There are 5 or 6 burre's (huts) with 32 staff... you do the math -- the friendly staff will help you in any way you need!
Having your lunch and dinner all together with with the guests at the resort was a treat. We exchanged ideas of fun things to do on the island and made some friends!
The owners are lovely people. They are so friendly and willing to help you in any way you need. Your only concern will be deciding to scuba, canoe, snorkle, sit poolside, get an awesome spa treatment, or just relax...
It was a dream.
It feels like you are in the middle of nowhere with all the comforts of home.

My wife and I have just returned from a 7 day vacation to Lalati Resort from 9/2/06 thru 9/9/06 and couldn,t be more satisfied. We wanted a small intimate resort with romance great accomendations, water sports, and this resort delivered on all of these. The bures were spacious with great beds a perfectly large covered porch with table and chairs ,a wonderful hammock for 2 and a veiw you only see in movies with the water only30 feet away. They had many activities to choose from hiking, kayakking, wakeboarding, diving, picinic on your own deserted island, surfing, fishing, snorklingand my wife's favorite, the spa. Kava, meke, lovo, fire walking and the friendly Fijians add to the experience.

The food is gormet with great portions and more for the asking. From the moment you board the boat for the island the service is amazing. Your luggage is carried aboard and then to your bure and if you dive you are spoiled rotten. You leave your equipment on the porch its picked up,assembled and on the dive boat waiting to go ,then rinsed dried and waiting to go on the next dive. The only thing you have to do is your check and tighten the straps everything else is handled by the crew. The diving is outstanding with Jay and Joe taking you to the best sites that day and finding the animals you wanting to see.On one dive even a manta showed up.

On our trip everyone was a newlywed while we celebrated our 26th.We felt out of place for the first 30 mins then felt like family the rest of the trip.Privacy when wanted was always available as well as visiting with newly made friends. The resort works for those in search of a romantic getaway with great food and service beautiful surroundings and relaxtion a high priortyThe weather was outstanding on this trip sun every day temp in mid 70's water 75 the rooms well ventilated only needing the ceiling fans for cooling.

Sunscreen is a must as well as bug spraywith deet and the mosquitoes stayed away for the most part. Interesting to note when bit by one the itching only lasted minutes then disappeared making them a minor irritation . Snorkling in front of your bure was outstanding as well as several sites within easy kayak distance. Anything you wanted to do you just let the staff know and it was ready to go when you were no waiting for equipment as there was enough on hand to be enjoyed by all.

The spa treatments were great per my wife and the massage I received and the prices were right . The day we were to leaveour flight was cancelled and Air Pacific put us up at the Softii on Denarue island a top resort. As nice as this resort was we wished that we could be back at Lalati instead even though the airline picked up the tab. In our 26 years of vacations we rate this in our top 2 if not the best vacation that we have been on.Vinaka to owners Clint and Jane and all the staff for making this trip one we will never forget and we hope to return in the near future.

A friend of mine recommended Lalati after they spent their honeymoon there, so we signed up to spend ours there as well. Simply put, there is no better place anywhere to spend your honeymoon/vacation.

The food is absolutely incredible. Beato is a true gourmet chef, and you will never be hungry... ever. The accomodations are beautiful. You will not believe the view every morning you wake up. We slept like rocks (thanks to Beqa midnight at 9PM) and woke up refreshed every morning. The snorkeling is incredible right off the beach... just dive in off the pier and you will see things you've never seen before. The staff is superb - they attend to your every want and desire. They are incredibly attentive, and amazingly kind and gentle people. Hike the hills with Pita (he'll go barefoot) and visit the village with Luisa. They will literally invite you into their homes.

If you are looking for the perfect combination of adventure (kayaking the mangrove tunnel), seclusion (private day on Storm island), luxury, and romance, you simply cannot beat Lalati. Tell Jayne and Clint we said hello!

Oh, and if you're looking for someone to help you book the trip, call Amy and Linda at South Seas Adventures. I have never seen a team work so hard to make sure that everything on the trip was perfect. They are the best team of travel agents that you can imagine and will get our recommendations time and time again.

We honeymooned after much Fiji research and it paid off. We loved it. It took us awhile to get there. A 3 hr. flight to LAX, a layover, a 10.5 hr. flight to Nadi, a 2.5 hr. van ride to Pacific Harbor, and then our journey ended with a 45 minute boat trip to Beqa (Bengah) Island. The island and the ocean was goregous. The resort is small and intimate set right off of the shore. It is small, 7 cabins in total. The owner was nice. The dive instructor was nice to talk too though we did not dive. But you can get certified at Lalati if you would like too. We went kayaking and snorkeling. It was so gorgeous. There are so many fish! I had no idea. We did the honeymoon package with included a trip to Storm island which did have the white sandy beaches. The picnic lunch and snorkeling out there was our favorite part of the trip. We saw some firewalking, drank Kava, and had a traditional Fijian meal cooked in the groud. The food was great. We had steak, tuna, and chicken for dinner and things like pizza and pasta for lunch. Breakfast had options but mostly between egg dishes and pancakes. Though the fruit and homemade bread was delish! The accomidations were nice. We booked late and stayed up on the hillside which had a spectacular view of the ocean. It is not too far from everyone. The money we "saved" we used in the spa. I had a papaya wrap, deep hair conditioning, massages, hot stome massages...... all most everything to be honest and my honey had a couple of massages. They were great. The exchange there is awesome. if you spend 1000 Fijian you only spend 600 american dollars. We drank drinks around the nice pool and bought bottles of wine with our meals most every day and did not spend that. The exotic drinks were 12 fijian, the beer was 5 fijian, and the wine was like 7 a glass or 25 a bottle. There was free water in the room and a mini bar with the same prices. We used our sunscreen and bugspray though it was not too bad. I highly recommend it. You can dine on the table with everyone or get your own table. I liked visiting with the other honeymooners personally. Everyone we met was so nice! Overall we really enjoyed it.

Just returned from Lalati. I must say, the resort is a fabulous honeymoon or romantic destination. The bures are clean and spacious. The meals are excellent. The resort is clean, secluded, quiet, and very nice. The spa is great. The owner, Jane is very nice and the dive instructor Jay is cool. Jane goes out of her way to make sure all guests have a great time. The water is nice and the snorkeling is outstanding. There are a lot of fun activities to do like kayak, jungle hikes, and village tours. Also, there's a really cool tiny island nearby called 'Storm Island'. We spent a day on the island snorkeling. It was awesome.

My only complaint would be that there is really no beach area located at the resort. A quick kayak or boat ride can get you to nearby beaches, but there is none located on the resort property. It's ok because for once I didn't get any sand in my coinslot.

Also, if you're looking for nightlife, this isn't the place to go. The resort is located on a secluded island. There are a couple of villages nearby, but you cannot go to the villages unless escorted by a local guide. So if you're looking to experience local shopping or 'dining out' this isn't the place.

Overall I loved Lalati and would go back if I had the chance.
