“FANTASTIC ISLAND”
Reviewed 1 May 2012

This is a very beautiful Island but people seem to know it as a shopping area. The Island has long beaches, museum, The Lagoon where one can spend the day swimming and enjoying meals at the local Restaurant, Amusement Park, Water Park, Dolphin Park ,just to name a few. There are lovely Hotels situated all over with beautiful Restaurants that serve delicious dishes. Also the Island has very good Doctors and Medical Clinics. I can recommend anyone to these doctors - Gastroenterologist,Gyneacologist, Otorrinolaringologist, Traumatologist, Ortopedic and lots of others. The Medical Clinics are very clean and modernised. There are Hotels like Hilton, Lagoon La Mar, Margarita International Resort, Bella Vista and many others.
Just visit the Island and take a trip around. You definitely going to enjoy it.

“Visit with open eyes, it is fun.”

These reviews are not dated, so, 3/13/2012. I have a condo on Margarita Island, been going there since 1989. Now I spend Dec, Jan. & ½ Feb away from NYC. Their (Venezuelan) infrastructure is poor at best. Rolling blackouts, poor police, poor variety of goods as well as imports, but you can buy HDTVs and all the other Hi-tech goods. Europe shops are abundant, but you need a guide. Rental cars vary from good to bad, so use taxies AND ask the fare before you get in. There is a night differential of 10Bs. I have found everything I need on the island, but one must search it out, which takes time (I have the time). People are friendly, most are honest like any tourist town. Crime has started, so be careful at night, and no flashy jewelry. If you bring cash ($/E) the street transfers are better than banks ($=8bs+-). Food, drink, wine, are all good. Don’t eat uncooked foods, or food that was not boiled (100oC/212oF). I’ve had very good and very bad all over the world. Percolated coffee is not boiled. The all-in-one hotels are the best. They cater to tourists. Visit the sites around the island with a guide and ask for credentials. One can keep busy for a week just touring and learning the culture. I speak Spanish very poorly but get around by taxies and local busses ($0.30). I get dark enough to be taken for a local.
