Posada Mediterraneo and Olga and her staff just great, service, food, friendliness, . Relaxing big time, We stayed December 8 to 11 and wished to stay longer- The excursions to the outer "islands" are a must - Los Roques is a place you miss in the rest of the Caribean - A different world to the Rest of Venezuela / which is fantastic for nature / GO THERE AND ENJOY AND TKS OLGA YOU MADE OUR DAYS :-)

Come with a relaxed outlook and get to know the staff as they are all so lovely and want to make your stay as pleasant as possible- if you do that you cannot fail to have a fantastic time.

Become part of a lovely family and get to know Olga and the rest and they will do the everything to make your stay perfect. It is not a hotel it is about becoming part of life in beautiful Los Roques.

This is the honest Carribean, with stunning beaches, lovely people and a great vibe. Not a Four Seasons or a casino in sight- thank God! Diving, Kite surfing, snorkelling, picture postcard beaches with gorgeous food and great wine.

It quickly feels like home but in the most beautiful location.

Come and just enjoy this unique archipelago and Posada- you will talk about your experience and show off the photos you have taken for years to come.

This is a nice posada in El Gran Roque, its clean and zen; one must understand that when you go to Los Roques you can not expect a luxurious emplacement because its not the spirit of the island even though its a very expensive island.
The staff in this posada its great, just welcoming and ready to help you, must thank Jesus, Samuel, Omar,Maria and the guys from the kitchen. The room was nice but nothing special. The breakfast was delicious they will give you 3 options, continental, the typical venezuelan, and another one that i didnt remember, i alays ordered the venezuelan one 'cuz i love arepas ... The lunch pack for the beach was yummi nothing to heavy ( the sun in Los Roques wont let you eat a heavy dish as lunch) If you can try to book a trip to the some cayos (tiny islands) that are a bit far away from Los Roques, i strongly recommend Cayo De Agua, in this trip they will stop in a place where they have turtles Dos Mosquises ( that will take you 10 minutes and to see it will cost you less than 5 euros, you will be helping an organisation to preserved turtles in the zone, they are a private organization and the gouverment doesnt help them in any way) If you have the money go to Los Roques its paradise

We chose Mediterraneo mainly because we were told by our travel agent that it is among the best posadas in Los Roques, and also by looking at its website (and comparing it to the websites of the other posadas). It is indeed a good and clean posada, but as we visited other posadas (Gaviotas, Aquarela and Natura Viva (the best one, in our opinion)) we realized the others are actually nicer. Mediterraneo provides you with all your basic needs: power generator, cable Tv, modern AC, island lunch service, etc. We had dinner at the pousada only once. The food is also good (although not as good as the posadas mentioned above). A three course dinner was served in maybe less than half an hour. This fact leads to what in our opinion is the biggest CON about posada Mediterraneo: its management. Olga, the manager, tries very hard to be nice but her real intimidating personalily emerges as soon as you need something that is not strictly within the ordinary, or you question or disagree about something. Things such as boat trips to islands, and what is/is not included are never transparent, and you always have the feeling that you are being ripped off or overcharged. And her attitude of course discorages guests from clarificating things further. Breakfest could also be better, since you have limited options (american, criolo, continental) and all of them basically consist of bread, eggs, ham and butter.
Other than Olga, staff is very nice, helpful and attentive.

Room Tip: Make sure your room is alway from the reception, because it can be noisy and lack privacy !

Loved the decor, room was fine, very clean in general, great food, this place was recommended by a colleague. The manager, a guy who spoke several languages, we had was very helpful & accomodating & looked out for us in general & when we had a problem w/the launch boat. Olga seemed to be his boss, but she barely gave us the time of day, and the owner was traveling.

we stayed for 5 days at the posada and it was great. we came in low season so we were the only guest almost all the time. the posada is very clean and well managed by Olga. the service is very personal, you sort of feel in a family. rooms are nicely decorated and with all amenities, with new and silent airconditioning which is needed since there are very few windows. the posada has its own electrical generator in case the grid goes down (several times a day). internet connection works although not very reliable in the room, ok in public space; the food is good and the chef very flexible, just need to ask her what you want to eat and she'll cook it for you. Los roques is a paradise on earth and this posada is a perfect complement to it!

On a scale of 1 (worst) to 5 (best) for the different aspects of El Mediterraneo, in Los Roques:

- The Posada (hotel): 3.5.
The decoration and style is a 5, very nice, but the rooms have no windows that open to the outside, only one that opens to the inner corridor (so no privacy if you open the window). Therefore, most rooms have a mild smell of being closed with humidity. Our room's (#3) wc was the only one we saw that had a window (a square hole on the wall with a som bars for security and a mosquito net), but it opened to a camping tent on the neighbor's property (their ground on level with our window, so zero privacy there at night when our light was on...). The bed and closet are simple, but adequate.

- Staff: 5.
Everyone is usually in high spirits and always available to help and provide information. Extra points for Samuel, the luggage bearer, and Maria Eugenia, who works serving meals and general chores. Tatiana's shy, but very friendly too. The cooks seem very friendly, but one doesn't meet them much.

- Management: 3.
We never met the owner, Elena, who was away travelling, but we did meet the manager, Olga, who is friendly on the surface, but somehow we always felt that we were being 'tolerated' by her at 'her' establishment. Our final impression is that she did not go out of her way to make any extra effort. Also, we did not get the room we booked, and things we previously agreed on (day-trip destinations, for ex.) were later changed or mixed up with no warning. We later also found that visitors in other posadas paid nearly 30% less than us for plane tickets (which the management booked for us) to the island.

- Location on the main island: 2.
It's not on the beach (no sea view), although it's close because the island's small. BUT, because it's located in a street with no view to the beach, there's no breeze, which makes a HUGE difference if there's a power cut (and therefore no air conditioning). It then becomes HOT.

- Food: 4.5.
Considering that you're on an island way off the continent, I'd say they did an outstanding job. The food's varied, well prepared, and they make a nice effort to present it elaborately.

Overall, it was a great trip, for both the place and the people we met. Our tip would be to book a posada on the beach, for the breeze, but go for El Mediterraneo if you don't have that option.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a window in the wc, for added ventilation.
